Grillo deserved better in The MCU. He was a great Crossbones, but he would’ve been a better Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. Hell, I wish he was a better character in the new DCU. But I’ll reserve more judgement for when I see his portrayal of RF Sr. He’s just an incredible actor and I’m glad he’s getting these roles. As for who I think he could’ve been in the new DCU, I could’ve seen him as Harvey Dent.

Gunn said Darwyn Cooke's DC the new frontier heavily inspired him in shaping his DCU universe.. not just for its retro style which Corenswet trunks fits with the world brilliantly(Darwyn works in supes animated series too). I owned the new frontier deluxe edition which include the bonus Darwyn's own Batman vs Superman story with NO mommies 1st name involved but a full throttle batmobile on a collision course towards superman with it's gadgets blazing! (Which Zack the hack didn't do instead just made batman idiotically w/o strategy..trying to ram supes..stupid batfleck!)..Darwyn take was a MASTERPIECE!..and Now,knowing Gunn said that! I'm so proud o myself for having it in my collection... Btw, I forgot to add during the fights,batman uses high pitch frequency(like in donner's film) to cause superman to lost focus n call in the bats. He instill fears into superman like he does to his enemies!.. is that dope or what?!! And probably a grt tribute to superman 79'. Trio of legends (Donner/Reeves/Cooke). May Gunn honor them

There is a similarly dressed character in comics who actually stood a physical chance against superman named Ulysses.
