I had to come back to this video as we just laid my Grandma to rest this weekend. My Grandpa and her were married for over 65 years when he passed away in 2016. As strong of a woman as she was, his passing really had a major impact on her and she was never truly the same. Knowing they are reunited helped make it a lot easier to deal with. This song still hits just as hard as it always has, but a little differently now knowing that she has completed her chores and they are together again.❤️

BAM! That is exactly the impact the writer was going for! Country music often turns the same phrase into different meanings throughout the song. It is frustrating when listeners cannot determine this is happening. A real good one is Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland) singing "Why Don't You Stay?". The change in meaning of the exact same words is what the song is all about and yet Reactors rarely understand what happened.

This song is one of the most perfect pieces of songwriting there has ever been. There isn't a word of the chorus that is remotely out of place for either meaning. And Colin's performance is incredible, as well. It gets most people on the first listen and continues to get a lot of us every time.

Collin Raye is in my top 5 and I’ve seen him in concert twice. Once in Anchorage, Alaska in 1994 just as I was really getting into Country and again in 2019 in Arlington, Texas. I loved both concerts and what sucks is that we don’t have concert ticket stubs anymore as momentos. I still have my one from 1994 in my collection. I wish we still had those. Collin Raye’s music was the soundtrack of my 20s and his music is timeless. My favorites from this 90s Country crooner are Little Rock; That Was a River; If I Were You; Not That Different; Love Remains; In This Life; Man of My Word; Love, Me; Somebody Else’s Moon; Every Second; What the Heart Wants; I Volunteer; Heart Full of Rain; One Boy, One Girl; Angel of No Mercy; I Think About You; I Love Being Wrong; On the Verge; The Gift; Little Red Rodeo; That’s My Story; Someone You Used To Know; and She's With Me.

Collin Raye is an amazing artist, great voice! He sang so many beautiful songs, has a full album of love songs that I'm pretty sure you would enjoy. The album is labelled literally...Collin Raye, Love Songs. Wore out these cd's in the day, such amazing lyrics, song writing and of course his voice. Skip Ewing and Max T. Barnes wrote this song back in the late 1980’s. Skip was inspired to write this song because of his grandparents. He brought the idea to Barnes, who liked it, and they wrote “Love, Me.” Skip, at the time had a record deal with MCA, and he played the song for his producer Jimmy Bowen. Bowen hated the song saying that it was terrible and would never work, he told Skip to write radio hits and not sentimental songs like “Love, Me.” Skip’s publishing company begged to differ and began pitching “Love, Me” to other artists, believing that the song would be a hit. It eventually got its way to Collin Raye, who had just gotten a record deal with Epic Records. He heard “Love, Me” and he and his producers were impressed by the song. He recorded it and it was released as his second single off of his debut album, All I Can Be, in October of 1991. It became his first number one hit on the country charts, and his longest one too. It stayed at number one for three weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. It was the first number one on Billboard’s country chart for the year 1992. The success of “Love, Me” lead Collin to receive a nomination from the Country Music Association Awards for Single of the Year. As well as Skip and Max receiving a nomination for Song of the Year that same night. Collin also received two Academy of Country Music Awards nominations for Single Record of the Year for “Love, Me” and for Best New Male Artist of the Year.

I’ve loved this song since I was a kid in the early 90s and though others have caught on to the beauty of the song, this might be the realest reaction, and I don’t mean react channel reaction, but natural, human emotion reaction, to this song. My parents just passed, within week of each other, basically my dad looked at me after she passed and said "I have finished my work" I am going home with her....and he passed 3 weeks later. This song made me tear up. Thank you, I also lost a good friends son last week to suicide, was really tough. Please try a listen to a song called Sad Lisa, it was written by Cat Stevens but the best performance I have ever heard is by a man named John Gawkowski, I would recommend that version. This us what I love about the power of writing lyrics. In just a few verses he pulls up so much powerful emotion. So few verses... and a lot of those words are repeated. Still he tells a full story with so much meaning you can't hold back the emotions. Another song by Steve Wariner does this as well, called "Holes in the floor of Heaven". You'll need tissues for that one too but it's as beautiful as this one. Love your reactions. I've been so grateful to watch your channel grow and follow you on that journey.
