Collin raye has always been one of my favorite artists. I would recommend his song 11th commandment, it has always been on of my favorites as I have lived through part of that song. It brings me to tears every time I hear it.

Billy if you ever do a Colin Raye binge (every one of his songs is great) I would suggest you use "Little Red Rodeo" as a palate cleanser between the sad ones. It's a great song too, but it's a lot less emotionally heavy.

Collin Raye is in my top 5 and I’ve seen him in concert twice. Once in Anchorage, Alaska in 1994 just as I was really getting into Country and again two years ago in Arlington, Texas. I loved both concerts and what sucks is that we don’t have concert ticket stubs anymore as momentos. I still have my one from 1994 in my collection. I wish we still had those. Collin Raye’s music was the soundtrack of my 20s and his music is timeless. My favorites from this 90s Country crooner are Little Rock; That Was a River; It I Were You; Not That Different; Love Remains; In This Life; Man of My Word; Love, Me; Somebody Else’s Moon; Every Second; What the Heart Wants; I Volunteer; Heart Full of Rain; One Boy, One Girl; Angel of No Mercy; I Think About You; I Love Being Wrong; On the Verge; The Gift; Little Red Rodeo; That’s My Story; Someone You Used To Know; and now She's With Me.

Oh man, the onions must be in my house too! I had never heard this song and didn't know the story behind it. As to how you write a song about things like this, that's what songwriters do. It's how they process their feelings.

Hey brother, this is the ONLY song that brings me to tears. You see, my beautiful son Justin has a VERY, VERY rare chromosomal disability. (patrial trisomy 14q) Collin's song fits my son perfectly. People stare at him and some make fun of him because he looks different and can only make sounds. Needless to say I have lost my temper with idiots who have no idea what his and our daily lives are like. Justin will be 28 May the 1st. Doctors could not give me any idea of his life span because of the rarity of his disorder. Justin has never spoken a word. What I would give hear him say, "I love you daddy". Justin is on the very low end of the autism severity spectrum. He almost died of Steven's Johnson's Syndrome. God restored him with any out scaring. A really terrible thing to deal with is, since Justin can not speak it difficult to know what he wants or if he is in pain. I have never said to myself, "why me Lord?" instead I thank that God for allowing me to be his father. His mother abandoned Justin last year because she wanted to live her life and moved away. My wife has been the most unbelievable mother to my son. She has given up her wants for the needs of Justin for the past 18 yrs. I love Justin so much because he shows what unconditional love is. I have served in the Army, been a police officer and for 25 yrs. a corrections officer for the State of Maryland. I tend not to show my feelings because of my employment over the yrs. This song is for Justin also. When I stand before God, I will hear Justin speak to say I love you daddy. It is a day I am truly looking forward to.

I work with disabled adults ... I spent 5 years caring for a non verbal individual.. who taught me so much in them 5 years ... it was truely an honor to be able to assist them with there daily needs and activities , though they don’t have words they speak so clear through there eyes ... I truely wish everyone could see through there eyes and experience the love they give... it is on a new level .. no one would look at them with pity if they could experience the beauty and love these individuals bring to this world .. truthfully those who are disabled don’t need pity or anything of that nature what they need is understanding and acceptance ... acceptance for who they are and what they can bring to this world in there own perfect way and understanding in how they do things in a different way at times ❤️❤️ this song is beautiful

Songs like this just remind me that everyone should look at others with compassion. You don't always know what's going on in people's minds and life. That "bad" kid having a melt down an aisle over may be a high sensory person that is over stimulated. That single mom with her shoulders practically to her ears pushing that stroller may have a non-verbal child in it and is just waiting for someone to make a comment. Love to all of you who have to deal with this every day. You are also heroes.

Thank you so much for reacting to this and the shout out. This song means so much to me I even have the name of it tattooed on me, people look at us funny because my daughter isn’t their version of “normal” so it’s my way of proudly saying that she’s with me. My nearly 3 year old daughter has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic disorder and has similar characteristics to Collins granddaughter. My daughter can’t walk, talk, express how she feels or what she wants and it really is a struggle everyday. She can’t say daddy I love you verbally but she sure a hell tells me when she gives me that smile. Thanks again for this.

This single was taken from country music singer Collin Raye's tenth studio album, Never Going Back. This song is a tribute to Raye's granddaughter, Haley, who suffered from a severe but undiagnosed brain disorder. Raye explained on his website: "It's very hard to write about things like this, because nothing is ever good enough for her, and it's hard to put into words how you feel. The idea of 'She's With Me' struck me about a year or so ago. Thinking in this life she can't do anything for herself. She comes and goes because she's with me, and then I related it to the after life thinking, well, if I'm lucky enough to ever be standing in front of the Lord or St. Peter… maybe, she'll be standing there and say, Well, it's okay, because he's with me." Raye told Christian Music Today: "There is no way my family and I could cope with our situation with Haley if it weren't for our faith in our Lord. Despite constant moments of frustration and asking 'why?' we keep on living and coping, confident in the absolute knowledge that our savior knows far more than we do and that someday in his presence, he will reveal to us why our baby had to suffer so much on this earth. It was in this belief that I received the song 'She's With Me' directly from God." The track was released to raise funds for organizations helping children with neurological diseases. Raye announced the death of Haley, on Saturday April 3, 2010. His granddaughter was nine-years-old when she passed away.
