Since I am an eighty-nine year old American and a Korean veteran, I have heard the beautiful National Anthem many tjmes. I guarantee you that my heart swells with pride and have shed a few tears every time. It means so much and is so powerful, especially in a crowd of people. And you sweet people are so special to let us know how you feel about it.

Whitney’s rendition of the anthem was powerful- filled with pride. Chris’s rendition is humble. Our country is politically and socially divided right now and Chris’s rendition at this time was just perfect.

Socially and politically divided kind of describes a lot of countries right now really. Chris’s also sounded powerful to me and like he was conveying pride in the country. Unless you mean a more sort of quite soulful humility to the tone he does have that element to his voice.

I am an American vet, I am 70 and was in the Army during the Vietnam War. I am female and didn't think only men were American so I enlisted and entered the medical realm to take care of the vets coming back from Vietnam in the burn ward. You can't help but be proud of your country when you visually SEE these soldiers and the price they pay to keep us free from tyranny and help others worldwide as well. This kind of dedication goes all the way back to the beginning of this nation as your family has seen in that Star Spangled Banner clip, and it continues. Unfortunately, we have an administration in our top government office right now that is selling us out to our enemies because of their own greed. Please pray for the USA will you please? This evil in control right now might be our downfall when we have traitors in office. Barbara ....Holland, Michigan USA

@@darrellpowell6042 …..the song was a British pub song sung by both Americans and Brits. The song was in the public domain and various songs would have different lyrics put in at various times. The song was very popular when the poem was written. The words of the poem were then set by Americans to the tune and was eventually written down as such. The US flag did use part of the original design from their time as a colony because the red and white stripes were very easy to spot on ships as coming from the US. So there was a practical reason for it. Are you British or something?

Thank you so much. I am a 68 year old American. We used to study our national anthem in school however not anymore. Star Spangled Banner is a song about freedom's triumph over tyranny. Every freedom loving person in the world should feel a special bond with it. I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. We used to visit Fort McHenry on elementary school field trips. What a feeling to stand on hallowed ground where our flag never touched the ground amid the most torrent bombardments in history at that time. Thank you.

While his singing was awesome and even moving, that was not why the Eagles coach was crying. This is something every football player and coach dreams of, playing in Super Bowl. When you are standing there and you hear that anthem, it really hits you that a lifelong dream is there.

idk man something ab his voice. You can hear his passion and soul and it being our national anthem amplifies the emotions as well. I also like how he did it his own way bc i feel like most artists almost have the same, idk "routine" when doing our national anthem, but his was unlike anyones. for sure top 3 in Super Bowl history

While these types of huge event are a sight to behold, it is just as powerful to me to be at a small three field ball diamond or single field soccer game when they direct your attention to a flag and the anthem is played. Everyone stops and stands, even neighbors and people walking on the sidewalk. We are truly blessed to live here, and we are blessed to have the friendship and respect from you and your family. Can not wait to see your adventures in country. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives, I know few will realize the sacrifices you make to allow us a front row seat to your family.

You guys are so great! You make ME proud to be an American, and grateful as well, despite all that is going on politically, we are all still united in our love and appreciation for the freedoms for which our soldiers have fought so hard to keep. I live 5 miles from the stadium in Phoenix and though I wasn’t IN the stadium I was just outside and I heard it and I felt just as moved and chills down my body from that song. All of my friends…we all had tears in our eyes and hugged each other and just shook our heads “yes” at each other. I’ll never forget it. I’m so excited for you to come to the US! If you come to AZ let us know!!!! I’d love to meet you guys so much. ❤

The fact that it was just Chris and his guitar with no other back up music gave an entirely different feel. He had nothing to fall back on. I love Whitney and no disrespect to her but the king has taken his throne. I have listened to this version at least a dozen times which I never have with Whitney. Top notch. That anthem has a special meaning for me, I have family members that were in the military It means something a little different to me! It always brings a tear to my Wise when I hear that song. Sometimes we have some Americans take it for granted, But when you've had family in this service It means that much more. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, And others that you have made appreciate in our country. You know you can be adopted! I hope this finds you healthy and safe , Until next time take care.

Some facts! 1. The entire song is in fact a British drinking song. The Americans stole the music and made new words. 2. The US flag is 3/4 British. The 13 stripes are from the Grand Union Flag of British America the British invented. The Stars are American only. 3. In 1945 the US flag ONLY had 48 stars on it. IF you see 50 stars in a war movie, then its the wrong flag.

The National anthem was written when this country was under attack by the British navy. It is a wartime song, not a country ballad. The tempo and the big band sound of the orchestra along with Whitney Houston s strong voice was the way it was meant to be sung. I do love Tennessee whisky and Chris Stapletons voice, but not for the national anthem, Also, Whitneys version was released as a single and for the first time in the history of the national anthem made it to billboards top twenty.. My sister is a history teacher and when she teaches on the origin of the song, she plays Whitneys version.

I love our national anthem and, even as a teenager, I would get misty eyed hearing it. On a ten pt scale Whitney gets a 12 for her performance; Chris gets an 11.8 for his. I’m just so sentimental about her performance and the places and times I’ve seen it that it comes out barely ahead. Both of them could sing the phone book and it would be beautiful. I think y’all coming to the US is a great thing! It’s going to be epic!

@@darrellpowell6042 actually, Francis Scott Key penned the Star Spangled Banner to the tune of the drinking song as it was popular at the time, having come out in 1775. The 13 red and white stripes remember our 13 original colonies and there were only 48 stars on our flag until Congress made the change to 50 stars in 1960.

He put more soul into it, with no showing off, no self-centeredness, it was truly a tribute from him, to the men and women who fought to keep our country free. Hearing that he's an extremely humble person, this doesn't surprise me. It wasn't about him at all, but his way to honor our country. I love the natural soul and grit in his voice. Your history is magnificent; from the opening of the West via wagon-train, your tremendous innovations, and continued technological dominance over the world, your sacrifices during WWII and establishment of the Red Cross which assists any country in need. Don't be fractured by woke special interest groups who try to make you feel shame. Keep your eye on what's important to you. Stay united in pursuit of a higher purpose, and you will stay strong. Keep your faith that patriotism is alive and well. Signed: a Canadian.

I think they are both on par with each other. Thank you to your daughter! She nailed it. They are completely different stylings. Whitney's is more triumphant or like almost a get people out of their chairs type style. And Chris is amazing, too. I am so biased to Whitney I didn't even want to like his version, and he is the first person to actually make me tear up. His is almost a melancholy, remember-our-history/roots/trials & tribulations version. His version makes me think of what we've lost in our early days of fighting for freedom and our days since defending it. Whitney makes me just want to get up and cheer. Just completely different stylings and (possibly) intentions by the artist, too. They are equal imo.

Better than Whitney? Hell, no. And I'm not even a Whitney Houston fan. This song is best sung without too many vocal acrobatics.
