Collins G7 50th anniversary dollies!

Collins has finally released thier G7 dollies that I've been testing for the last year and a half. I have over 18,000 miles on the new models with no problems and as you've seen.... I've not exactly been nice to them.. All of the dolly things you've seen in my videos has been on the new models with the exception of the dump truck, and maybe just a couple others, where I had to show a close up of the dollies and didn't want to show the new model in detail. The good news is now that the secret is out, I can finally show close ups of the dollies and do videos like, "how to setup dollies" that people have been asking for.

My boss and I were just talking about making a custom short extension piece for my dollies exactly for boat trailers! I just replaced my Collins dollies last week with a new set of Collins dollies.... yikes! But since everything is interchangeable, I'm going to see if I can talk my boss into buying the longer cross rails 😉

Very good video. You guys explained them very well. We have had an issue where a jack was damaged on a boat trailer loading it on a deck. Makes dripping drivelines on duallies not as important. Maybe still on the heavy ones. Plus being an Oregon company is amazing. They picked the right guy to test them. Hope you had a good time and had a safe trip home. Snows coming.

Yep, boat trailers (especially in this area) will be the huge advancement. No more trying to drag them on a rollback without damaging them or trying not to fall off the side. Simply dolly the trailer and get off the road in under 2 minutes

I absolutely love the new set up! My favorite part is the cut out for the prybar so you can walk the dollies to a vehicle.

I never had to worry about it before. The Collins held up to the dump truck just fine. It was the In The Ditch dollies that collapsed under the weight

You actually got a cameraman! That's a big step up! ;-) What are the differences between your prototype dollies and the final version? Stewart (?) mentions "more abuse over the next couple of months": does that mean that you can keep the prototype dollies?

Yes I'm keeping them. There are a few small differences between my set and the production version, but all are cosmetic, everything as far as function is exactly the same. Most of it has to do with mine being hand built and the production version being built in a jig on the assembly line. I started with the rough draft, now have the second draft, and the consumer will be getting the final draft.

I've never seen one in real life. Actually don't even know if it's legal in Norway. BUT just by watching this I wanna become a tow truck driver! :p They look so cool and super useful. I'm saying this all the time though; .... anyway I am pretty sure I would order a set and get them shipped one way or another if I win the lottery. seeking for some "enlightenment" here - a self lubricating bushing? hows that works? Can't believe this is more bullet proof compared with the old style one where you can (you should) geese it up from time to time. Still can't understand from where it gets more "grease" lubricate itself....

Are the new parts swappable with the old parts or do you (have) to buy a whole new dollie?

All the old dolly frames and cross rails work together with the new ones. The hubs interchange, but the shackles, bushings and hardware do not.

@@Fordgroup00 not really. You could buy the new wider cross rails for an older set of dollies, but any of the other parts that interchange are the same parts so it wouldn't be an upgrade

We use their dollies, however the product quality is very poor. Also lack of customer service and warranty is present.

Yeah it may be the older ones you have experience with. I was repoing for a company that required everything put on dollies. The old ones were just plain worn out, bent, crusty, etc. The new-new ones are super nice in every way possible. You won't dread using them.
