Apart from these Corona times, where unfortunately there are still no spectators allowed in the Bundesliga stadiums, you have the best chances of getting a ticket on the day of the match in Berlin. In Cologne it is very difficult, because the stadium with 50.000 seats is sold out at every match... You should plan a visit there well in advance.

When I was there for a day layover en route to Krakow (highly recommended), I visted the Farina House, which is the original manufacturer of "eau de Cologne". Farina cologne is remarkably pleasant and the museum is very informative. I recommend.

Some random trivia: cologne was founded 2040 years ago (19 b.c.) and was the birthplace of the wife of the roman emperor claudius who made her husband change the status of her home town to that of a colonia (colonia claudia ara agrippinensium) - hence the modern name. It was part of the Hanseatic league, at the end of the medieval era and long into the new age biggest walled city in northern europe even dwarfing paris, the resting place of the three biblical magi (in the cathedral which btw took 800 years to complete (and only once the prussians had taken over and forced us to actually work) and besides Jerusalem and Rome one of the three holy cities of catholic Christendom

Hi ninh. I went to cologne at August 2019 to meet some of my family members. And it was great. I do recommend you hire an electric scooter which you can see people using, and discover cologne using it. It is worth it!

Thanks for your video on one of my favourite cities in the country. Staying in Köln: try to avoid dates when "Messe" (exhibition / trade fairs) are happening as all accommodation prices are raised temporarily to the captive market. As the OP stated, the right (east) bank of the Rhine is the place to be (especially the Rheinpromenade) for images of both the Dom and Hohenzollernbrücke. Köln Triangle: Shame how the plexiglass goes up to 2-plus metres which means there's no opportunity to have a camera held "above" the security measure, and that internal reflections will come into play. People of Turkish origin form one of the largest minority groups in Germany; most of them by number live in Köln. That means Turkish food is plentiful here, and it is so. damn. good. I like these areas: Ehrenfeld, Hansaring, Mülheim. Rhein-Energie Stadion: My first "Heimspiel" here for 1.FC Köln was in 2006 when the team was in the 2nd Division. In almost all cases, home matches sell out (average 50-thousand), whether they're up in the top flight or they're down below. The cheapest tickets are standing-room only (Stehplatz). You don't have to be among the "Ultras" in the Südkurve, but you'll be surrounded by people and fans of all ages.

@@JMac-27 Germany is absolutely safe as is most European cities. American tourists are pretty common. I would recommend a 3 week trip with a train pass to visit all the major cities in Germany

@@JMac-27 as mentioned in your other comment, Americans are welcome, but hotel prices in Cologne aren't the cheapest. If you do about three days in Cologne, that's enough to see and experience absolutely everything. You could do it in less, but you'd be rushing to do things.

No one does Christmas Markets better than the Germans. The Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park London tries to emulate a Christmas Market, but it is a joke. I would have thought London could have done better. But out of that experience, I learned that Germany is the only place that does Christmas Markets worth visiting.

I want to visit this city, I do have concerns about safety though after learning that one thousand women were groped and molested on NYE by migrants. Has this issue been fixed since it happened?

I honestly couldn't tell you, as this is the first I've heard about it? I think migrants committing crimes is now common across Europe, but that doesn't mean that it will happen to you. My advice is to keep aware and try and be in populated places, away from dark streets and narrow alleys. If you stick to the main town, you'll be fine, as there's police around patroling.

Of all the locks there where everlasting and eternal love are promised, professed. confessed - I wonder how many of those couples have survived the relationship. Its easy to confess your love for one another but to live it out unconditionally is another thing. Love should be something you go all the way, for better or for worse and not something like a I-Phone where you discard and replace after it has lost its usefulness.
