Dairo Antonio Úsuga, alias “Otoniel”, was Colombia’s most wanted drug lord - until October 2021 when he was arrested in a massive military operation, involving over 500-special forces.
But was he really the new Pablo Escobar? We look at how the Colombian drug trade has transformed since the days of the Medellin and Cali cartels to see how important the fall of this latest kingpin really is.

Lol yep, and the moment one guy goes, you think it will get better, but the guy taking the spot is almost ALWAYS much more evil and wicked than their predecessor. Funny how life works. That’s what happened with gang violence… we take their leaders and give them life sentences, and we take an already lawless organization, break them up into smaller even more lawless divisions, and you see more crime, more violence, more drugs, more everything. All men need a mentor or a leader and once they lose that, they’re willing to pull triggers to survive

It’s simple demand/supply economics. We have a demand and they supply it. It would be interesting to find out what is at the root of our demand in the West. For some time I’ve believed in legalizing all of it. Tax it heavily, control the quality and put money aside for those who want to get clean. Just saying, “no”, obviously didn’t work. It’s time we try something else.

Very true. We should be attacking the demand on drugs, not supply of drugs. Drug prevention, treatment and the reasons why people get in to drugs should be addressed because you can never stop the flow of drugs. Trying to stop the flow of drugs, only makes these cartels make more money off of it and causes a bunch of other problems with our prison systems, lack of fathers (because they are in jail) and also putting these drug dealers in jail only increases their connections for when they get out of jail. None of this deals with prevention and addiction or treatment.

The irony is, if you legalize all drugs there will be no business for drug lords and they will die out. Sure, they will find other ways to make money but the drug black market would be crushed and drugs being regulated a lot less people would die from overdoses.
@brunolondinese5857
@brunolondinese5857 2 жыл бұрын
What if regulated, legal drugs are much more expensive that the "traditional" (current) black market provides and the vast majority of consumers continue to give their money to cartels? We can see with legalization of cannabis in the US that the regulations make it incredibly hard to operate and very expensive product.

I’m not sure what the actual #s are but here in FL where prescribed weed is legal, but you can’t recreationaly smoke. So you have to pay to see a Dr to get a weed card then pay for the weed card, and after that it’s every 6 months you have to basically renew your weed card which is not free, and then after all that go to the weed store and buy essentially over priced weed. So what I’m getting at is Iknow 10 people that have there weed card and Iknow 0 who keep going to the weed store and renewing there card, they just go to the street and get weed 100x cheaper, taxing drugs and legalizing drugs will not change anything at all

We need stable legalized drugs. Safely made and safe places to do them. Drugs that have been tested. It could save so many life's! People are always going to reach for some kind of high. Controlling this based on your beliefs to not do it is selfish to not understand why others would. I'm not glorifying anything but people need to be aware of why people do drugs and if we can't stop them we need to help them be safer. You can disagree with drug use but want someone to be safe. I only hope we get cleaner drugs.

@@neonnyx2728 it's really complex because people should have leeway to do as they please but drugs such as heroin, coke, meth I don't about that. I rather them smoke weed instead. What would probably help is if the rappers would dog folks out for using drugs like back in the 80s and 90s. Krs one was "Crack is wack" type of attitude but was fine with Marijuana cause in is early raps he mentions Marijuana. Brand nubians slow down is another great record that addresses issue with drug addiction and can't forget night of the living baseheads by public enemy great record also.

The question you should be asking is why are people turning into drug addicts. You'll find the solution there. But in the meantime, legalization of all drugs in America and all of Mexico, Latin America, and South America would end the war in drugs overnight. The profit doesn't come from selling to their own people, the profit comes from smuggling into the US. Fat chance of it ever happening though. Too many countries, too little cooperation, too little reason to legalize because once that money is able to be tracked we as citizens can actually see what they're using those funds for. So it will never happen.

Narcos in Colombia probably by now own fully working submarines that cant be detected. Prob made in russia and shipped to colombia. This is just a thought,considering all the billions they got laying around and all the connections all around the world uncluding russia and china. Its been a while since they captured a semi summersible. Imagine all the ones that get away and go thru on the weekly bases. Each trip can bring 1/4 billion to half a billion each trip,probably even more. Specially if they ship them to europe where its triple the price.
