When people think about Jamaica and drugs, they tend to think of weed, Rastafari and reggae music.
00:00 Intro
02:00 Police protection for votes
04:40 Jamaicas join the American gang wars
07:21 Christopher “Dudus” Coke
The reality is that Jamaica sits in the middle of the cocaine corridor between South America and the US, and the violent gang wars and billions of dollars this trade generates have fundamentally shaped its history.
This violence is inseparable from Jamaica’s politics, creating a uniquely Jamaican kind of gang boss - the Don. And no Don was bigger than Christopher “Dudus” Coke. This is the story of Dudus, the drug lord who became the secret “President” of Jamaica.

This story has a lot more to it than most know. For one, look into who was his father. Then look at who provided the guns and continued to fund all of that crime that went on. You really think Dudus had that money himself?! He got that from the financiers of all of that! Since they are powerful people, they will try to separate themselves from the actual crimes.

That's what happens when a leader is taking out. Now the gangs will break up into smaller gangs due to lack of leader ship and all his right hand men and the people right below him are all killing each other due to being scared of getting switched on or more importantly in there eyes for more power and the highest position they can get to. It actually creates way more problems. Same when they destroy slum communities these type of gangs live in. Just breaks them up and creates more battle for power and land

There are some inaccuracies in this video and some important omissions. Last time I checked Jamaica had not decriminalized cannabis as is being said here. What has been decriminalized is the possession of small amounts. And curiously enough everyone seems to conveniently forget to mention that one of the main reasons Golding was against the Coke extradition was that the evidence that was being used to extradite him was obtained unlawfully as per the Jamaican law.
