NOAA Weather Radio - Severe Weather Warnings

The remnants of tropical storm Fay spawned several tornado and flash flood warnings today (8/26/2008). I recorded some of these using my Radio Shack PRO-94 (no bloody A, B, or C) scanner. I used a cable to connect the headphone jack of the scanner to the line-in on the PC's sound card for better sound quality. I had to relocate the scanner toward the end of the clip because my PC was causing too much interference. NOAA weather radio stations recorded were WXJ-21 and WXL-56.

Best hand held scanner I've ever owned. Wishing it was the pro-95 but we sometimes don't get everything we want in life. Nice vid , it hurts my feelings that such treasures as these are offten treated as worthless.

I remember sitting at my house in anderson sc watching the trees swirling outside my house and lightning striking every few seconds. And after the issued one warning, my two weather radios would go off again. My dad works in Clemson and was watching that tornado in clemson. It was scary but quite interesting.

If this was transmitted over television, you would have seen the following text crawl at the top of your screen: "The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Abbeville, SC, Anderson, SC, and Greenville SC beginning at 3:23 pm and ending at 4:08 pm (KGSP/NWS)"

Wow, it’s one thing to watch this video all this time later, but if I had been there that day listening to all this, I would’ve been terrified. I hate tornadoes! I live in the Midwest so we have to live with them some, but to have almost every warning be a tornado warning! I would have lost it lol.

Why no SVR's But 5 alerts wow! In March I had like ongoing 20-25 alerts from my weatherbug, My area had a record of 12 ALERTS! :)

Scanners monitor *most* radio frequencies, while weather radios only monitor weather frequencies.
