NOAA weather alert feature in some CB radios.

I got this CB from a friend when I turned 17 years old.. I'm 29 now. Got a newer 07 ram truck put this CB in that truck. And never knew it did that lol... I can't wait to do this tomorrow morning!!! Thank you so much

When driving on a long distance trip, it’s important to periodically tune to a weather channel that is operating in order to get the alert.

The Cobra product line will weather alert if it is turned on or if it is turned off as long as their is power to their units they will alert you . This is why when you apply power to a cobra radio while it is turned off it come on monetarily ( 1 Sec) and then goes back off. .

And they will drain a battery quickly if you dont drive every day.

I had this on my Cobra 25 back in the late 90s. I had trouble with the weather channel bleeding over on the CB band.

Shortly after installing a new Kenwood TM-V71A VHF/UHF radio in my truck I was driving along fat dumb and happy on a Wednesday afternoon (you see where this is going right?) when the speaker behind my head let out with a serious alert tone that as I was driving I had no idea how to turn off...scared the living Be-Jesus out of me. Of course it was our area's weekly NOAA test signal. Finally figured out if you shifted from a memory position to the VFO and then back again it would silence the alert. Like Mike said, should have paid more attention while RTFM!

Ive got 5 radios that have this. They are all new still in the plastic except one. And everyone needs the WX aligned. All are way off and one is so far it only gets on when there might be 5 in the area. Some have a "weak" signal where on another it might come in strong.... They're a mess.

Cruiseomatic Sounds like the WX boards need aligned. Not uncommon for them to be off a bit.

Just out of curiosity... I'm assuming this is a VHF board, and the frequencies are adjustable. Could one set the weather channels to actual local VHF channels? Or is there not enough adjustment there? For example, if a farm is using CB as primary truck to truck comms, but they also have a VHF channel... They could monitor the VHF channel through the weather option on the CB? I would never waste my time on it, as we have VHF mobiles and handhelds. But it has peaked my curiosity.

Thanks for this video. Interesting I have this radio and always liked it but lately it blows the power fuse. Do you think it is worth getting it repaired or should I just buy a new one? The only guy that I found that works on them said he charges $ 50. and he is three hours away. He is the same guy that sold it to me from his store and tuned the antenna to it that I bought at the same time. He also cut something inside and said I would be able to hear and talk to people further away after doing so. Always wondered if that was legal for him to do that and legal for me to use the radio in my car. I most likely accidentally switched the polarity of the power wires so that's probably the reason I can not get it to work now. If that is the case do you think I can fix it my self? Thanks for any help.

I have one of these radios and the last time i used it it worked fine then just last week i hooked up and the weather was bleeding over on the cb frequencies what would it cost for someone to fix it

Good video, why are so many of these Uniden CBs have dead weather function? Just dead. Is there a known issue? If so, please fill me in. Many thanks Mike.
