Omfg!!!!!! Colonello bro... Thank you so, so, so, so much for this video! At 46 seconds I saw "Sir Win has logged out." I have tried dozens and dozens of times to find anyone who remembered him. In 2021 I even joined a Rs memories group on FB and nobody remembered him. I knew him from 2003-2006 when I stopped playing because of life. Sir Win was much older than I was and was my best friend on Rs. I would talk to him about everything going on In my life and he would give me advice and was always so nice. In 2006 for my 18th birthday he gave me two green phats. That same day he said he was going to go eat and never logged back In again. I've always wondered whatever happened to him. Wherever he Is I hope he's doing great. Imagine my surprise to watch this video and see his name pop up on the screen. I was starting to think that maybe I had remembered his name wrong because nobody had ever heard of him. Sorry for the long comment but that got me so excited.😂

Wait… there’s people out there following the lore of this game that have never played it!?!? I grew up with this game and sorta half remember some of these things. I remember the falador massacre. I got killed in lumbridge with a bunch of good gear and was so confused because I just logged on and saw skulls and people getting killed and it was surreal lol. Like the apocalypse. I almost quit, but as time has shown me… you never really quit. I didn’t play for 15 years and now I’m blowing my mind with membership, something I never had as a kid lol.

If memory serves me correctly, Mod Element was hired alongside Mod Infinity. Both came from the RuneZone fansite of which Mod Infinity was the owner. Mod Infinity later also left Jagex after some nefarious incident occured. Go figure lol.

I most likely was one of the people who purchased a party hat from Axel in 2012. I played rsc seldomly from 2005 to around 2013. This is an old YT account of mine and there are a few RSC videos from 2008 still up on my page. I just checked and saw a guy with a blue party hat in one of the videos lol Anyways, I was on a rsc kick briefly in 2012 and saw a guy (most likely on rs2) advertising in-game to trade gold in rs2 for a party hat in rsc. I don't recall how much but it was in the ballpark of a few hundred million gold rs2 for a white party hat in classic. I traded the gold and got the party in classic (in Draynor of all places) as it was the trading hub like you mentioned. I quit RS in 2013, and unfortunately didn't record any footage after 2008. Recently picked RS up again and was sad to see classic servers were shutdown. RIP Great video, keep up the amazing work!

lol it blows my mind seeing his name pop up after all these years. I can confirm 99% of what Colonello has said, and actually shared accounts and was good friends with him back in the day. We'd help bot each other's accounts and even tried to make a pking "clan" with the tag "r2o" for 'Ready 2 Own'. The two usernames of his that I recall were I M Def3nce and R2o Cookies. This was like, 2005 though, and we drifted apart after my PC died.

When you say 99% of the playerbase moved over to RS2, if you remember that period in time most people tried out RS2 and came right back to RSC. It was so bad that they had to eventually force it to be member only which slowly killed RSC, then the icing on the cake was making no new registration. Still until this day I believe the pking and especially dueling was so much better than "OSRS/RS2" . It's sad it's not playable but it is what it is lol

One reason I like this channel is because these mysteries take real investigative knowledge and tracking people/forums down and confirming theories. The fact that this game's history is so well documented and that people loved this game enough to care about documenting these things is very fascinating to me. I feel like this is primarily why Classic was shut down, not the small server costs. Rampant bots are one thing, but the billions of items that would take thousands of years to accumulate naturally is just unacceptable

It was definitely the 'spaghetti code' that nobody knew how to fix, which caused game breaking bugs. Like the Player ID bug within underground pass. 2 people figured out how to teleport other players (rich botting ones) into underground pass and take their items. People also constantly abused the bug of using the lvl 80 charge spell on doors and the crystal chest, making them unusable. 😢 Lots of broken stuff like that.

Did often wonder just how many "real" (as in they spawned on the original holiday events from 2000 to 2003) rare items were left in classic just before it shut down. Between the infamous dupe and this Axel mod stuff you can't help but think most rares left in Classic must have either been duped ones or spawned by mod element. Of course the biggest issue with this is that there was simply no way for anybody to ever know

I used to run a private server with Axel... He sent me screenshots of max stack invs and told me a jmod spawned them for him. Several months after Axel screwed me over I had a chance to tell some jagex staff (in person) about the jmod spawning items in rsc but they didn't seem to care at all... Fun fact regarding the gnomeball thing, it sorta worked for a while in RS2 too (just differently). There used to be a period of time when using gnomeballs you could interrupt someone's action in RS2. It was forever ago so my memory is foggy and this next detail might be me remembering wrong, but I think weirdly enough they actually had to have full hands and not be able to receive the gnomeball - and if they were doing something like fletching or something, it would stop them in their tracks when you tried to throw them it, even though you never actually throw the ball because their hands are full. I used to do this to bots and some of them would briefly stop their action and then resume, but others it would seemingly break the bot and they'd just stand there until they got logged out. Edit: Also, side note but there was actually one other Jmod who paid attention to classic, at least around 2008-2009 ish when I played (I stopped playing RS2 and briefly switched to RSC during the wilderness and trade restrictions). Mod Mark. He used to hop on every so often and wander around, mostly to ban bots.

Didn't need to be a mod at Jagex to steal and make money. They had customer support staff sending in fake "password reset" requests to steal accounts. Happened to me for months after I quit until I gave up, had my password reset on me multiple times, and fake credit cards attached to my account to try and activate membership.

Hmmm as someone who was in the Guardians... I'm trying to figure out who "George" is... I think I know. =) As annoying as Axel was, he was hardly the worst player from those days to deal with. And for anyone questioning the amount of money to be made off of that ancient almost dead game... don't. All the botters were hardcore gambling addicts and only botted that much so they could afford to stake phats/billions of gp. I had so many hours of entertainment watching their antics. =) Good memories.

I wonder if a modernized version of RSC with the same rule-sets would be viable. I think graphics are the main deterrent for most younger people. My issue with OSRS/RS3 was the removal of the three-round rule, pures being able to level up magic and ranged without it affecting your combat level (basically making it so you had to utilize 2/3 or 3/3 of the trinity to be an effective pker). And the introduction of weapon specials. I guess it is nostalgia talking for me, but RSC was more of a DND + skilling game. While OSRS became about end-game raids and tick manipulation for PVP. J

I started playing RS in early 2002 and played until it closed. I was a moderator on one of the larger bot sites towards the end of of RSC's existence. Man, good memories, good times, good friends.. Shame that it went away. I was writing scripts for free towards the end. You all like to bash the "botters". I had three legitimate accounts that I valued the most, but I bottled soooooo many accounts. Never sold them for cash. Always just hoarded pixels. 😅 Now I randomly play OSRS, my username still includes "RSC". Classic was the best. Miss it more than I should.

Your videos are an awesome way to catch up with runescape lore which definitely earned its place in gaming culture. But if you want some critique, imho the parts of the video showing you in person don't really contribute much to the video, especially since your gesticulation is a bit weird and seems a little forced which distracted me more then it helped.
