William Penn seemed to be in earnest about wanting peace. His successors not as much. They wanted the land and kept pushing the native americans further west. Read about the "walking treaty" and how they got a lot more land. Subsequent treaties pushed the native americans almost completely out of PA. An exception was a community in what is now Easton, PA.

Also, understand this. The French imprint on North America was much smaller than that of the British. The European population of New France was between 50,000 and 75,000 while the British colonies totaled 1.5 million.
