This was the first game I ever had for PS1 way back in the day. To this day, it's still one of my favorites from a story aspect. Took so long to beat this damn game (when you're ten, you're not thinking as sharp as you can.) The music, the narration, all of it was simply amazing, especially for it's time.

I remember playing this on my brother's PlayStation when I was a little kid. There's just something about these cut scenes and just the "feeling" of the game that you don't get anymore in modern games, same with other games I played on the PS1. Maybe it's just nostalgia.

@Macthecamp in that ending the Empire doesn't split; they decide to negotiate with the Father after the Faction is eliminated. The end result is that the League becomes independent, but contributes to Earth as it is agreed to be the root of all humanity. It leaves both the Empire and the League apart but on good terms.

And it finishes…. At last! It was time for our species to move on. I suppose there those in the League who felt pride, but I couldn’t dig out such an emotion. I was exhausted. I could hardly comprehend that the war was over. And now I felt simply drained. The unconditional surrender came from the heart of the Empire. We assumed this meant the Czar was still alive. But once the drop to Earth had been made and the League had scoured the Imperial Palace, it brought back only one message: The Czar was gone. He had vanished.

There's an untold story about the freedom-loving, democratic league committing (in the canon) a horrendous war crime. The first two games ought to be re-made as one long one, where you play an actual character in the League who ends up disillusioned after the sealing of the warp gate. The hero worship of The Father, in these League-slanted narrations sounds rather North Korean, too.
@TheDarkIllumination8 жыл бұрын
In the original Colony Wars website, in the info section, it stated the Father was actually a Sha'Har agent. Using humans to defeat themselves, apparently.

I actually found a guy who worked for Psygnosis on this game and Vengeance on the X4: Rebirth subreddit a few years ago which was cool. He apparently was the voice director for Vengeance. Apparently they almost had a heap of legal trouble because of the narrator, Burt Caesar, sounding so much like James Earl Jones.

8:46 in, what is the symbol on the Colonial Navy craft?
@worldcomicsreview3543 жыл бұрын
It's the Empire's symbol. One of the bad things about the game, some of the world-building is so epic, but the logos of the two sides and the writing on the craft seems like an afterthought. And in a style copied from the Wipeout games, a type of cyberpunk, club-culture inspired look that seems totally inappropriate. I hope if there's ever a remake that gets changed. Big, bold and clear writing and names on the ships, and an appropriately ornate imperial emblem.
