I am so fascinated by seasonal colors and enjoying Jen's content! Have wondered this about gray and white hair! Thank you for including people of color too. I'm curious how many non-female folks are interested in color typing. Also Jen, how did your skin get looking so beautifully luminious here?

My understanding is that your undertone never changes. The undertone you’re born with is what you’ll always have. Skin may fade w/age, but the undertone never changes.

When I had brown hair or chestnut hair I looked good in tpcarme l ds, light browns ,browns, rust. I no longer look good in any of those colors and have too wear a colorfull scarf with any of those . I still look o.k. in blues, including denim, that we're in my old wardrobe.

I am exactly the blended brown with alot of grey white hairs and streaks here and there. I noticed I have a warm undertone but have fair skin and green eyes. My natural hair is medium brown can look mousy or warm depending what colours I wear. When I use to colour my hair it was a warm blonde, and it suited me really well. I think I am a neutral now I have grey bits in my hair. but soft, bright and warm colours suit me against my skin. If I wear a coral pink it brights my face, if I wear a cool pink or grey it looks dull. black doesn't really lift me.
@AmazingJane137 Жыл бұрын
You have exactly the same coloration as me. I too love coral pink and I like wearing Khaki too. Black doesn’t suit me. I typed myself as soft, warm and medium. Is that what you are too?

I really like this video. And ohmygosh, I love this eggplant colour on you! :-D I´m a BWL myself (which I know for a few years now), but I always wondered if this colour might suit me since I chose this as the carpet of my room when I was a teen and combined it with furniture in a light orange/laminated wood design (which I still have). I wouldn´t have thought this colour could actually be worn by a light and warm like me although I had a similar coloured tunic once. Now I would love to find something like this again. I really need the widest variety of colours I can choose from, the BWL are so hard to get here!! XD

Thank´s for this video! Can You do some more examples with warm skined people. I was warm bright and medium/deep. Now I have all hair natural, not very much grey, but they turn from deeper honey brown to more neutral brown. I see, that I need little bit softer colors and more neutral combinations. But sometimes its hard (it was a quick change) - I was wearing yellow and browns... now I choose more warm blues, purples, beiges... My hair is still pretty dark, so I need contrast... I will be happy to see more of Your sugestions for warm skin and grey hair.

I’m struggling. I used to be super high contrast with very dark hair and very light skin. I had to wear clear, bright colors just to balance everything. With my gray hair, I’ve noticed that my skin has a yellow overtone. I’m now probably soft and medium (hazel eyes but dark eyebrows). I seem not to be able to wear very cool colors or very warm colors. I seem to do best in the middle. I’ve recently become aware that I’m probably olive (very slight but the tone is there.) I would like to choose a side so that my wardrobe matches. I’m thinking I might do best with Soft Autumn as the peachy-pink blush color is my best.

Thanks so much for doing this, Jen! Very interesting. Mirrors many comments I see in the grey transition websites I follow. The amount of white/silver in the hair appears to greatly influence whether someone is Bright or Soft. And, only one of the examples remained Warm. The others were either Cool to begin with or "cooled" with the addition of grey. The final issue appears to be intensity (Light/Medium/ Deep). Most of my Silver Sister agree that we need to add color around our face. The confusion seems to be whether it should come from Cool or Warm colors. If we use the continuum of hair from dark (pewter) to white to determine Bright or Soft and get the intensity right (Light/Medium/Dark), it sounds like it is pretty safe to err towards Cool. Does that sound correct?

Is there ever a case that someone is neutral not cool or warm? Also, I'm confused about everyone dividing yellow and red into the warm category, when they are such different colors. Why do we have two categories of warm/cool when there are three primary colors?

Very interesting! So if I'm like the lady with the funny expression, green eyes but very dark hair... As I get more grey would I go from deep to medium? And does 'deep' depend on eyes and hair more than skin? I have very fair skin but very dark hair and medium eyes and brows (without make-up) I suppose 🤷
@YourColorStyle4 жыл бұрын
I think, as you have deep hair in the blend of salt and pepper, you will be able to wear those deeper colors. If you go completely white, you will want to consider lighter colors.

You cannot switch from warm to cool undertones. What in the world? Also, bright eyes alone does not equal a high chroma individual. I am seriously doubting this system. I like the theory that the system is based on but the interpretation in the analysis seems flawed. I think your understanding of color theory may be stronger than your understanding of how to apply it to color analysis.
@YourColorStyle2 жыл бұрын
I agree. Bright eyes does not always equal a high chroma individual. Everyone is unique with different combinations. Bright eyes is a good indicator and guideline but there are other factors. Just because you don't agree with everything I say does not mean my system is flawed. No system is perfect. We have to create general guidelines to help people learn but there are no absolutes and no perfect overall color analysis solution. Some may agree with my opinion and others don't. That's ok. You have to find who you trust. As for the undertones. Going from warm to cool does not happen overnight. But there is a tipping point when a person is much older that some people are going to be more dominantly cool. Not everyone. But some. Some individuals hold their pigment all their life and some lose pigment. You are absolutely welcome to disagree. That doesn't mean that I'm wrong and you are right. We simply have a difference of opinion.
@missbee9802 жыл бұрын
@@YourColorStyle you have basically proven my point. What you are seeing change as we age is our overtone. Undertone remains the same throughout life and is linked to genetics. “The skin undertone is determined by different elements, namely hemoglobin, carotene and melanin. The composition of these 3 pigments is defined by genetics. This means that the composition will never change during a lifetime. Skin color (or skin overtone) can change due to a number of factors, such as exposure to sun, illness, blood pressure, etc.” I have seen you make errors in analysis and even you yourself tend to wear colors that are unflattering on you. Being good at what you do requires being willing to learn and hone your skills and admit when you are wrong, because you are clearly not an expert as you make many rookie mistakes. The reason that seasonal analysis appears to perhaps work better than your system is because not everyone is just bright or cool. Most people fall somewhere in between and the palettes are tweaked to reflect those differences and give the best palette for that combination. While you do give more options in some ways, you oversimplify the bright vs soft aspect that seasonal analysis allows for those subtle differences. You tend to infer that one bright aspect can make someone bright for instance. It is never about the eyes or the hair. It is about the skin first and then it narrows things down by looking at contrast of the features AS A WHOLE. I have seen you declare that someone is warm simply because her eyes are warm and negate the fact that her undertone is clearly cool. I like to learn about different systems because I am never too perfect to learn something new. I am just trying to help you learn and maybe adjust your thinking so you can do better.
@YourColorStyle2 жыл бұрын
@@missbee980 thank you. I am always learning and am happy to admit when I am wrong. I'm not perfect nor do I claim to know all things. There are so many nuances and no one system is going to capture those perfectly. My goal is not to be perfect but to teach and share my thinking. When I'm wrong, I share that too. I have several older videos on this channel that i need to remove because my opinion has changed over the years based on experience, based on a better explanation, etc. Thank you for your feedback
