Yea I’ve found that the degree of polish has less to do with the final appearance than. Many of the other factors. Actually sometimes a higher than 400 grit polish can produce more unsatisfactory results. The important thing is to remove imperfections such as pits and deep scrapes. Thanks for watching.

Just watched a video last night that showed this methos of hardening with charcoal... but he had a tip to add baking soda to make the hardening much deeper and said that it worked extremely well. It not only hardened a lot deeper (like over 1/16"), but it did it in a fraction of the time. I know very little on the subject, but I thought that was interesting. I can see why that method is good... but I was wondering also if there are times when that method would be bad. (Like when you only want to harden the very surface... like maybe for thin parts?)
