Circumin is derived from Tumeric or Saffron. You can test if it comes from these by exposing it to something acidic like white vinegar. If it's indeed from one of those two sources, it should turn red. Same thing happens if you put lime juice in tumeric.

I tested the yellow residue with acid, base, and a solution of borate. Indeed, I saw color changes consistent with the presence of curcumin. Couldn't fit all this in the video and meet the 1 minute time limit

Circumin is found naturally in turmeric, people eat it all the time. In fact, curcumin is incredibly beneficial for liver health (although it needs to be eaten with black pepper (which contains a compound called piperine) in order to prevent the curcumin from being broken down before it can confer its benefits)

@@spiderdude2099i think it's about the unnatural _change_ of color. What food turns yellow or green when cooked?

What about adding borates to the solution to form rosocyanine or rubrocurcumin? A very sensitive reaction to determine if there is some curcumine present.

Great minds think alike! We indeed added borate solution, as well as acid and base to the yellow residue. We indeed saw color changes consistent with the presence of curcumin in the residue

When you show the straining process, the blue marshmallow's green liquid turns blue again but the pink's orange liquid doesn’t turn pink: it remains orange.
