Beautiful. I absolutely love that color. A few years ago, my son lived in this house (it was then my 2nd house because I planned to move here). Colin lived here for a year and painted every room. He was an artist and historic color & finish specialist. I love every room, but he painted the dining room an ashy pink color that is incredible. It is my favorite room to this day. So glad you got out of your comfort zone and tried this one - and kuddos for trying SO hard to save that veneer. 🥰

Your piece looks very Art Nuvue. I love the color. That color used to be called Buff in previous years. It is a great neutral. I think this is a good 'save' since you were not able to restore the piece. When veneer gets that brittle, you're just sunk. It's so hard to believe that your baby is a year old already! When your 2 dogs were playing with each other, I thought that the larger dog had a toy, lol. How fun! Never a dull moment at your house, huh?
@DesertDIY Жыл бұрын
Thank you Holly that's true about the color being buff! And about art nouveau. Haha he does appear to be a toy! He always plays so rough with her and she is so gentle back to him. He's almost 13 years old, you'd never guess that by how he still plays like a puppy. I can't believe my baby is almost a year old too. Mind blowing really
@Thatsinteresting363 Жыл бұрын
I think it turned out very pretty and someone will love it! I was thinking about what color I might choose if I were redoing it, because there are a few color combos that would look great. Kacha would definitely do black and gold - which I would love, even though it wouldn’t go in my house at all! I’m addicted to gold and white accents and trying molds with highlighting and shading. I’m thinking a piece like this may be a perfect canvas to try my hand at it! Doing pleated shades like in the “She Holds Dearly” video with the same fabric used on the bench would be cool too ( if it’s not too thick)! This piece has so much opportunity to play! You are lucky to get them for free! Thank you for sharing your vision!

Thank you for all your work and information. I’ve been looking at the surf prep but it is very expensive and I could put that money to a paint shelter/tent, paint sprayer, tools etc.. (I would still get these things even if I got the sander bc I need them but I could save a lot of money not getting the sander). Also everyone I see recommending surf prep has a coupon code which makes me a little unsure about all the reviews, do you think it’s worth it for a beginner flipper, do you really see the difference having it over both the iron shaped & circular sander, which I have?
@DesertDIY Жыл бұрын
I think for a beginner you can start out with any cheap brand sander until you learn more skills of the trade. Surf prep sanders are beginner friendly, but because it is more of an investment I would say that it's more for those who do furniture flipping as a job or want a very professional finish especially on curved pieces. It also has a very good dust collection method compared to other sanders and for people who flip furniture as a career this is important for health reasons. If you only do it for fun here and there it's not as important compared to if you're doing it almost every day. It's also way easier on your hands compared to other brands so if someone has a lot of arthritis it would be a beneficial investment if you truly love flipping furniture like I do.
