One way to cut down on taping or scraping mirrors and glass is to lightly wet newspaper and it will stick to the glass/mirror. Paint and remove. You should have little or no scraping. I've used this technique and it works great. Congrats on the new house. Hope it will be perfect for your family. I know you will make it look lovely.

I must be strange I love the red and even yellow that comes with mahogany and cherry wood. When I was little stains were made to copy that look from other woods. Both especially the red make for a rich look for me.

I so wish we had places in England with the amazing choice you have in stores for DIY chic, we have nothing like that...which is a bummer...as i love giving old furniture a French country look...love watching your ideas 👍

I saw a show once that was filmed in England where a woman would take furniture projects from the local garbage collection site. Is that a possibility

@@DesertDIYHi.. it isn't allowed around our area to take anything, once it goes through the gates to the skip ..once they did allow us years ago and I got some lovely pieces of furniture but it's all change for health and safety reasons,we have second hand shops but the prices they charge for vintage items is ridiculous even charity shops, I usually try and catch people in the area who are house clearing or throwing something out iv been lucky that way...🙂

Might I suggest that you repaint those little knobs on the doors with a beige kind of color so that it will match the new knobs?!?! It all turned out so beautiful!! 💖

On the gold paint, fancy artists of years gone by would have a deep red paint under gold leaf. It just makes the gold look richer and deeper. Maybe something to experiment with? But I agree, it looked really good in the alcove parts. You have so much talent

Use free color sample cards from the paint section of your hardware store or junk mail.Don’t pay for paper! I get enough junk mail and fake credit cards to do every glass! And Maddox furniture is considered some of the best mass-produced furniture in this country! Maddox literally invented most of the equipment that is still used to produce furniture in a factory setting!

About those bowls...BEFORE USING them for food, THOROUGHLY BLEACH them, as substances (from previous food use) absorb into the wood. Put them outside, in the sun, to dry. After they have been sanitized, treat the bowls, inside and outside, with an appropriate oil that is safe for foods.
