My thoughts, too! I remember people saying all Model As had red wheels. Obviously that's not the case.

I got my 1930 Model A Coupe in 1965 when I was 12, and still have it. It has always had black wall tires, and Tacoma Cream wheels which I always knew as Straw.

Congrats on 60 years of A ownership! There were two yellow pinstripes; straw and Tacoma cream but the wheels were Tacoma cream. Thanks for watching!

Very informative! Now I have a reference video (with dated letters) about the wheel color issue. Thanks for digging this out!

Glad to share. Make sure to check out the Restoration Guidelines as well, they contain a lot of information about timelines.

I was mentioning to a friend that having been born in the mid ‘50s I observed that cars in my youth came with hubcaps and with optional wheel covers but today even many “economy cars” often come with aluminum wheels. I used my high school graduation money, back in ‘73, to buy a pair of Cragar SS chromed 5 spoke wheels for the rear wheels of my ‘69 Nova but kids today have cars with wheels from the factory that my friends and I would’ve loved to have had back then. Even the wheels that I bought and had my snow tires for my VW Jetta SportWagen to be mounted on are aluminum because they were only a few dollars more than plain steel wheels.

I don't own a model A or model T , always wanted one but the opportunity hasn't gotten my way, with that being said I love them either way. Now if I would be fortunate enough to own one it would have painted wheels with white walls, thanks for your videos I watch every episode, have a great day

Right on! Thanks for watching. Join a local Model A club if you haven't already and get closer to that dream of owning a Model A!

While paint is an obvious à personal thing, The last two videos you have posted had me glued to the screen. Both have been entertaining and very educational for me as a novice to the A's. While I am partial to the ""Black Wall" Tires; I've always been in favor to a color of the ownerd choice. . Personally I feel The factory colors were suffisant.I know I would go with something simple. It's nice to know The factory didn't Steer away from Black until Mid 1930. This makes the choice simple. I have seen several non standard colors and they look quite nice. In all, I guess choosing a Wheel color is akin to choosing a Blond, Brunette or Red Head!😊

Thanks for the info! I'd love to know the story on how they came up with those wheel colors. The intensity of the Apple Green seems so different from the other colors and seeing it on the all black car was so striking.

Color selection was done under the supervision of Edsel Ford, they certainly helped make the cars appear more refined. Thanks for watching!

I like the color wheel. I know a good number of people do not like my choice of silver wheels. However a very special person in my life wanted the color silver, so i got silver wheels. I think it does make the car look good

I like Tacoma Cream because I'm assembling a Hubley Model A kit and that's what the wheels are molded in!
@AModelA2 ай бұрын
That's great; what body style model is it? What color are you painting the body?
@Narrowgaugefilms2 ай бұрын
It is a coupe with rumble seat. I've finally settled the body color this morning: British Racing Green. It's as close as I can find to the green color the Model A was painted and common as a model paint. (I don't NEED a gallon!) I found a complete kit on eBay. It looks like 40 or 50 years ago some 12 year old boy got it for his birthday, did "step 1" in the instructions, put it in the closet and sold it off in his 50s or 60s. When I was that 12 year old, I built one of these and thoroughly botched the color choices. I'm doing a lot of research to make this one come out the way Henry and his Kid would have built it. (Takes a lot of time!)

Now I like the Hessian blue I mean I think that would be good for an old motorcycle tank fenders etc maybe not the rims lol

Has anyone tried to colorize these videos ? It would be really cool to get the feel for the era in color btw great video thanx
@AModelA2 ай бұрын
We've attempted to colorize some of the old factory photos but it is hard to get the accurate colors. Maybe in a few years with the advancement of AI it will be possible but we will leave that to people with more experience than us. Thanks for watching!

It's kind of that way there's no white wall crowd in old motorcycles. Don't know why of course there's also the crowd that don't touch it don't clean it just make it run. And there's the other crowd that says repaint it make it perfect

Well, dang. I guess I need to swap out my Aurora red for black on my 29 station wagon. Boo. Lol.
@AModelA2 ай бұрын
The red probably gives a good contrast to the wood grain. As long as you drive it we are all in favor of your color choice. Thanks for watching!

No I like a little accent but I'm coming from the motorcycle group maybe a red ring not the whole rim being that color. Little accent colors are nice. It's probably different on your type of automobile. Or you would do the whole rim. But on a motorcycle doing the whole rim in green or red I don't know it starts to get clownish.. That's me
