Love seeing you hit these standard routes again that you haven't posted about in a while! I did Oxford and Belford last week via Elkhead Pass and this video captures the experience of being on trail in that area perfectly

Preaching to the choir about off leash dogs man. Had a similar experience yesterday descending shavano. My dog is a bad ass and is friendly. But he doesn’t like being mobbed out of no where. The entitlement is insane. Thanks for the doggy beta for Missouri. We are going to try to link all 3 next weekend.

Man I just want to say I love your stuff, so informative and inspirational. Iv only done 2 14ers (longs and blue sky) but plan to do more next year. You have inspired me to really start challenging my self physically so I can stay in shape to do what I love (challenging back packing trips, trail running, races, and climbing mountains) thanks for all the great content!

Heck yeah. Your older 14er vids bring a sense of nostalgia for me 🤠 because you’ve been my go to source since back in 2018 when I first started! Came out there from Kentucky last week and did La Plata and then Kelso Ridge 👊

Enjoyed this video. I’m from Illinois and my 3 buddies and I hiked Missouri in July 2021 and were camping up there when that debris flow (2:41) came through during a massive storm…we had to bail about 8 pm when we saw the debris coming our way. The flow came down Mt Belford and the sound of it was unreal.

The longest day for me was doing Missouri/Belford/Oxford in one day. Still fun. 🤪

Mickey, I agree that Missouri is a gem in the Sawatch range. That sketchy section near the top was tough for me. I hit it just after a rain had caused some erosion and I did a lot of sliding. Like you mentioned, you probably wouldn't die but I can see sliding for a while and having a time getting back on "trail." Love the videos and appreciate the beta. Also would appreciate any input you are willing to share on weather sources you rely on other than mountain-forecast and open snow. Thanks! Rob

Did Kelso Ridge last month and couldn't see Bierstadt from the top. The haziness has been very bad. Hoping to do one or two of the 14ers in that basin this month!

Hey man, big fan of your channel! I have never climbed a mountain, but if I do climb a mountain I want to actually have to "climb" a little bit, so hoping for an easier class 3. What are some easier class 3 mountains (easier than Long's peak) that are within an hour or two, at the most, of Denver? Does not have to be a 14er. I've pondered long and hard about Mt. Meeker, but I was just curious what your thoughts were as to your favorite easier class 3 mountains close by Denver. Thank you!!

I just did Belford and Oxford, though I'd be cool and tag Missouri. Once I started re - climbing Belford, the adrenaline faded, and my body said, we are NOT doing another summit today. I chose to listen to my body.

I've haven't done the Missouri standard route yet either. I'm going to have to do it sometime. Have only done it from the west, the Huron side.

@TheVirtualSherpa Not many people and not really much of a trail, but you can see where you need to go.

How are you like the new Hoka speedgoats? I’ve got a pair myself with about 50 miles on them and I’m still on the fence. I’ve had them since the 3’s and keep hoping they will go back to those.

I have been wearing the 5s for about a year now and average about 350-400 miles per pair before they have to be retired. Durability in rocky terrain (scrambling/hiking) leaves a lot to be desired but from a running POV I love them.

I’ve heard not to take the east ridge down from Missouri to Bel/Ox, but do you have to go all the way down to the trail junction to combine them?
@TheVirtualsherpa
@TheVirtualsherpa 2 ай бұрын
Yeah that is the safest bet. You can take the ridge down but its super loose and believe goes at Class 4.

I recall SAR having to perform at least a couple of rescues off it too within the past few seasons. Climbers have gotten cliffed out after hoping for a shortcut. One of those “proceed with extreme caution” deals if it is attempted.

@9:22 Amen, mine neither. I cannot stand when off-leash owners act surprised when mine, who's on leash, get pissed at the off leash dog. It is not my fault your dog is dumb lol
