Nice work Justin, was cool to see the X-Lock actually work in a real scenario.
@laytonb72 жыл бұрын
Your rigging intuition made that work Justin … I have done a manual belay with my truck using a couple shackles and a pulley, in the figure eight style belay on mule tape … and I had full control even after a slack line run out … but damn me if I could repeat that success nowadays!!! Nice to see a variation of that …this is similar to how I would have suggested for the Land Rover pre roll over …

@@JustinKingOffroad , sure! Just a little joke 🙂. I'm living in the Netherlands and it will be very difficult to find such a steep hillside here. But I really enjoy the techniques used as a former towtruck driver. Keep on the good work!

Good job and great video Justin 👍 I'll keep my thoughts to myself on the fact it seems like most crazy recoveries are of idiots doing crap in places they shouldn't be. Oh, did I say that out loud? :) ... And I think the most dangerous thing you guys did was pulling those swampers off the Jeep rack!

Is the Belay better than just hooking up a few jeeps to follow him down? And why not just fix the brakes? Any idea why no brakes? No emergency brake? And I'm also wondering why you didn't turn him around before starting down?
@JustinKingOffroad2 жыл бұрын
The slope we were on complicated everything. No clue why there was no brakes, not worth the effort to fix again on that steep slope.

Could you double wrap the x instead of using two x. When repelling with a load I have double wrapped my belay device to add more frictio
@JustinKingOffroad2 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but I've never seen the inventor of that say it was ok
@jcar14172 жыл бұрын
Your x-lock and one of my belay devices are very similar . It would be an interesting experiment to conduct under controlled conditions to maximize the use of your x- lock. Also a rappel brake you can add or subtract friction by adding or subtracting bars and lock it off very easily with complete control of the load. Something to think about

Clickbaity thumbnails are just.... Lol.
@LuaiADV2 жыл бұрын
@@JustinKingOffroad My feed has a lot of videos. When scrolling i barely read what's in the title. If the thumbnail is attractive i click it. Seeing that you're constantly uploading and getting similar views means new people are not clicking on your videos. Look at MORR. Their thumbnails are easy to point out. For fun try making a thumbnail instead of using a frame from the video. It could be click bait. What's wrong with that? No misleading thumbnails and you're good to go.
