To Sterling's audience: I just happened to bump into Sterling on this day this summer filling up gas in Yampa, CO on a cross-country motorcycle camping journey of my own. And I will tell ya, he is as personable, and laid back, and interested in person as he appears in his films. Really nice guy.

This could be (should be?) a TV series. The subject matter is interesting, even to folks like me who don’t go camping, but who enjoy the beautiful scenery in the context of the story of this long trip. There is a Zen to Sterling’s videos, going with the flow, not getting hung up on plans and the inevitable glitches that interfere with those plans. If you want to, you can learn things, too. Well done, sir!

Glad you enjoyed it! I am hoping that it is interesting even to non-motorcyclists... basically anyone who enjoys the peace and solitude of the backcountry.

I really like how you showed way more of your prep work in this video. The water filtration, I see you finally have a plate lol, my main interest at this point is your process. Set up tear down, shopping, food choices, things like that so we get a good idea how to set up our next trip.

Hi Sterling! I enjoy watching your series here - both the ride itself, but also the camping- and cooking part :-) I have got so many good ideas for equipment that I will try out before my big ride starts in 2023. (Then I will be a pensioneer and finally FREE :-) ) Keep on cooking, see you in the next episode. Greetings from Norway!

Thank you, @Tom Reiner ! Sure is a beautiful country! The only problem is that half of the year you cannot ride motorcycle unless you have some kind of death wish :-) Normally I will have to put it away sometimes in October and get it out again late April....

Oh yes, Sterling, I will! Next year I have decided to also learn some gravel skills and have registered for some gravel courses/trips in the eastern parts of the country on the border to Sweden. Looking forward to that!

I'm currently going through a motorcycle camping phase & I like this style of format or the way you deliver your experience. I haven't watched anything in chronological order, I'm just picking out videos that catch my eye whenever I get on the computer. Idk exactly what it is, maybe your demeanor. Other videos I've come across have people all in your face where as you're just kicking back and taking your time. Idk. Maybe I shouldn't express my thoughts while I've had a few drinks, but I have noticed I enjoy these videos more, since getting into the topic

I came across your channel when I saw the intro to expedition 65. I really like your style. Short sharp videos with some excellent camerawork and lots of imbedded information. I love the firebox and I bought a foldaway table and camp seat just like you have. I live in Australia and would like to do a “backcountry” trip but our backcountry can be a tad hotter, inhospitable and unforgiving. So it all comes down to prep and planning. You have given me plenty to think about.

Wow! I'm impressed.You're really mastering the art of Firebox Cooking. Your videos have inspired me to get into adventure riding 👍 Because my motorcycle experience is slim I thought I would get a lighter weight bike. I'm considering the Husqvarna 701 LR. I think I'll be just fine on the blacktop gravel and dirt roads. It's the technical stuff that worries me more and I thought a lighter weight bike may be more forgiving. Your experience therefore wisdom on the subject would be awesome!
@SterlingNoren4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I would definitely recommend looking into a lighter bike. You will have so much fun and it will be An easier experience for you. I’ve heard lots of good things about the bike that you mention. Anything in the 450 to 650 range should be good. Keep on rocking with your channel I also find it very inspiring!

You sir are on the right track! I have KTM 690 Enduro R which is basically the same bike and I think it's the Unicorn. It's light enough for a lot of off road riding even single track if you slow down. It's not much heavier than a lot of 250s but way more powerful. It's just as easy to pick up because of it's low center of gravity. It's just such an amazing all rounder. BTW I also have one of your stoves and hiked the AT with it. Only ate a cold meal one night and that was due to laziness. :) I highly endorse it.

don't pass up looking at the Suzuki DRZ400. Lots of after market support and parts. Easy to maintain and simple. Heavy enough to travel big miles and lighter than any 650/800cc . Best bang for the buck DS bike ever built.

Hey just wanted to say that I'm loving the films... its really great that you are taking the time to film your journey in such a way that it makes me feel that I'm there with you! its great to watch especially during these covid times. I'm also an adventure rider but live on the east coast... would love to find my way out west sometime. Anyway, keep up the great work and if you ever felt like doing an in-depth review of all the gear you are taking with you that would be awesome... looks like you have some cool gadgets. Safe travels.

Sterling I was coming back from my 2015 trip to Salt Lake. I witnessed a UFO, near highway 40, about 70 miles from Steamboat Springs. If it would have been 200 feet closer, I could have hit it with a rock. It was hovering motionless and silent, at about 100 feet off the ground.

Hi Sterling , I have been enjoying the videos ! Did you get a new drone somewhere I missed that video. I grew up in Denver and fished up at Round Lake we hiked in and there were lots of mosquitos then ...Hope you make it on over to Steamboat Springs and find a campground name Fishcreek Campground on the west end of town , Have a good trip maybe I'll see you coming through AZ. We were in Patagonia last week. Steamboat Springs KOA campground is the one I was thinking of ,

Hi Sterling, this is such a great series and I learn a lot from watching your videos. So thanks for creating these! Quick question, not sure if it's proprietary info you are willing to share and I completely understand either way, but I am curious what camera settings you use on your drone. I have the same drone and am trying to get a similar look and feel. Curious on the resolution, frame rate, and wether you use a filter? Thanks!

Hi Tobey I am using the Mavic Air 2 and I shoot in 4k at 24fps using the flat color Cinelike profile, also a ND filter.

Hi Sterling! What is the firebox stove like to cleanup after use, seems real messy with all the ashes? I bet you are looking forward to a riding partner in this adventure. Looking forward to your next post.
@SterlingNoren4 жыл бұрын
Very easy to clean up actually. I just empty the ashes out of the bottom and fold it up and put it in the case. It gets a little bit tarnished with use of course, but easy to clean up. You have to make sure that you wait a little while for it to cool off first, but that does not take long.
