@@peterdamson5705 it still gives it a smoother ride. You don’t have to be rock crawling giant boulders to air down. It’s all about the comfort and not getting fatigued. Suspension and airing down are the keys to that obviously. But either way this 4runner is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

FYI, All trails has it labeled Halfmoon Gulch, Trailsoffroad it's Halfmoon Creek, on the National Geographic map it's Halfmoon or road 110/110J. Tons of campsite around the trail head to Mt. Elbert. Most cars can get to Mt. Elbert trail head. The second trail head for Mt. Massive you would need a high clearance 4wd and expect some potential damage if you don't have clear wheel placement. Going left to the 110J the major obstacle is known as Iron Mike, definitely have rock sliders for that one.

@@dominiccasa8799 Nice, I'll probably get their front bumper next summer. This year I got the same rack and ikamper rtt, hopefully I'll be able to save enough for a full set of BP-51 suspension before june/july (still rocking 265s). That area is amazing for hiking and off-roading, definitely a place you could set a basecamp for a couple days and explore.

As someone who owns an off-road vehicle (4Runner) and a built muscle car, it’s really funny how most off-road enthusiasts really known little about cars in general, with exceptions of course. But essentially it comes down to “I upgraded those 3 things, that’s my epic build.” But third of it is just cosmetic, the other third is stupid lights that they never use , and only about one or two things are actually functional upgrades.

Love my 4runner, recently took it to a local Off Road park.... wow i am impressed, you can watch all those videos and NEVER grasp the ability of the 4runner. Loved stock except 275s and x4 innovations sliders. stock skids are not good, next upgrade, skids, then 4.88s, 3 inch and 285s. In that order.
@muddyguns
@muddyguns 3 жыл бұрын
Who are you talking to? Or are you just posting a random thought of yours? "NEVER grasp the ability of the 4runner" 🤣 . The 4runner off road is on 3 wheels more than a 90's big-wheel. All sorts'a tippy, too. Lockers, skids, rails, gears and tires. Should have bought a Rubicon. All that work put into something with IFS 🤦🏿‍♂️

We love our 4Runner on 285 toyo R/T's they fit before lift but after lift it pulled them inwards so that's were rubbing started. We went with Hefty Fabworks rock sliders and getting bumpers and full skids from them here soon. I think the Hefty Fabworks could be a great addition onto the build they are located in Colorado Springs. Should check out his 4Runner on 37's wow it's sweet.

Wow. Awesome trip with gorgeous scenery. Query bout your rig. Im looking into my next one and 4Runner on the short list. But I too would want to get about another inch or two of body ground clearance and add about half to 3/4 inch lift to the pumpkin. So was thinking like a 1.5-2 in lift in roughly 33 in Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx tires. Looks like you have 33 x 12.5. I was thinking either 285/70 = 32.7 in or 295/70 = 32.25 in. Since the stock 265/70R17 = 31.6 and I would only be increasing diameter by 1.1- 1.65 in I figured at max a 2 in lift would work. I like the KDSS and most of what I have read say no more than a 2 in lift with KDSS equipped rigs. Also figured wouldn’t need to regear. But your comment on fitting your 33s with even a 3 in lift has me worried. Also curious if you regeared. Any thoughts and advice appreciated.
@dominiccasa8799
@dominiccasa8799 3 жыл бұрын
With the 3 inch lift and 33s the rubbing only occurred during full locking turning and reverse. I wanted to have a comfortable reliable ride with zero issues. It all depends on how well you want everything to workout in the long run, rehearing is next on my to due list

Cjoosing between this and a taco. I've read that with the rear seats gone the 4runner has more space to sleep in then the 5' foot bed of the tacoma, but the tacoma gets better mpg and a bit more hp. I'm around 5'10 and it would be just me, no one else.

Great question, I daily this set up every day! I even drive it to work from Colorado springs to aurora, which is an hour drive. Since this video I've added a lot more goodies which have added to the weight a lot. Something I wish I would have done sooner is regear to 4.88. This has helped with gas milage and overall power on the highway and in mountains

why did you had to get pulled out of a such an easy snowy patch?
@dominiccasa8799

That snow was actually deeper than the wheels. It was very loose snow from all the rigs going through the first time and so the second attempt I went for the harder route. Should have stayed on the hard snow ❄

Great video Collin. I assume with that 3” lift this build does not have KDSS? Care to weigh in with guidance on KDSS or no for trail and overland? I want 33’s so it sounds like 3” is the minimum for that, which would rule out the KDSS, based on what others have said.

If you look at 9:27 you can tell it does have kdss. He did say he had to do a body mount chop but curious to know more on extent of build

The 4runner does have KDSS, the lift from toytec fit perfectly with KDSS. I got a diff kit too from toytec that helps level everything out for a comfortable ride

@@dominiccasa8799 it’s a great 4Runner! Thank you for the detail, Dominic. I just bought one that is very similar to yours and starting my build this coming week. Mine doesn’t have KDSS but am going to lift enough for 33’s as well. Cheers

I have the same model 4Runner - 2019 Off-road premium, it has KDSS and I have a 3” Toytec lift, I only have K2 285’s, but they rubbed until I did the body chop…. Now they fit perfectly. Great performance.

I just purchased new 4Runner, does it do poorly in snow, especially up hill? I ask in all honesty because of many videos showing struggles in snow, could it be the weight?

There is the right tire for every situation. The first time through was easy and fun, the second time the snow was too deep and choppy from previous rigs driving through

Very nice 4R. How well does the lifted 4runner drive on the highway? Does it ride smooth and is there any sway in the wind?

@@rayland9305 after getting larger tires it does struggle a lot. I ordered new gears to help get stock drive back. I have 4.88 gear ratio that will help with this problem of step roads. But either way the stock 4runner lacks in power. I would say its the biggest flaw
