I called Wyoming game fish parks, out of state license is $186. Other than Northwest corner there is no limit on hunting wolves. wolves released in Colorado reportedly headed north. Two of the ten rumored to be eliminated in Wyoming. Wyoming game fish did not deny this when they were contacted.. ☑☑

Wolves are amazing creatures that have an intelligence 90% smarter than a dog. Old folklore and B/S still threatened their every right to exist with humans, yet we praise their offspring the dog. Fear kills, unjustified, and unnatural but until people stop and learn, fear will continue to destroy species. To help enrich the local environment. Wolves hunt large grazing animals like deer and elk, and in the process keep their herds on the move which ensures they can’t overgraze an area, and that in turn promotes a healthy regeneration of the plants thanks to the churned up soil and natural dung fertilizer left behind by the grazers, which results in healthier, stronger plants and a flourishing flora-fauna community.

The issues with CWD is the fact we have taken many of these predators off the table. CWD wasn't a huge issue till everyone decided to hunt yotes and wolves all the sudden. If we can reintroduce a population of predators it can not only help out other habitats but keep the food chain at bay!! Predators like wolves are almost a requirement if not a requirement in our habitats.

SMH. This is what happens when you have amateur "biologists" trying to manage wildlife based on their understanding of said wildlife through a Disney lens and ballot initiatives. This will not end well for the displaced wolves, for the deer, for the elk, nor for the residents of Colorado. Mine will be an unpopular opinion considering the source of this story and their viewers. As a life long conservationist, however, I am confident that my opinions are much more rooted in fact and knowledge based on experience. Don't even get me started on the efforts to get the middle school kids emotionally invested in these animals by letting them name the individual wolves. More Disney b.s. SMH. I would just ask that folks please consider the other side(s) of this story as I have before they inevitably jump down my throat. Thank you.

Totally agree, such a majestic animal, and a highly efficient hunter and killer. They can run a fawn down with ease and pull it apart with almost no effort. Sometimes the fawn is partly eaten while still calling for its doe mother. As the wolves go unregulated and grow in number the little fawns will disappear from the landscape, so it will be on to eating whatever is next on the menu. It makes great theatre for the die hard wolf followers! Enjoy!

@@lathafalls7675 You seem like a lovely person and I wanted to give this some deeper thought rather than trigger you with some smart alec response. The problem is the wolf population expands beyond habitat carrying capacity; and I love wolves too; however I'm concerned about them as a species as well as the individual. I follow the science and recommendations of the biologists such as in Montana Idaho and Wyoming. State Biologists now manage the wolf populations in these states and hunters are one of the tools they have at their disposal. We bring balance back to the ecosystem when the wolves bring imbalance. Its about conservation and sustainability of the species. Hunters fees also pay biologist fees and funds go back to wolf programs as well. The other problem is that Colorado is not a preserve, so the philosophy of preservation by definition will not work. It is conservation that works. Deer, elk, coyotes, moose, cows, goats, sheep and dogs etc. etc.. etc.. all have a right to exist as well. And in some cases they have been decimated. As I stated at the outset, You seem like a lovely person and it wrenches your heart to think of hurting one of these animals. I understand. You do not have to like what we do; however, our goals are the same. It would be more productive for you to look at the hunting programs and requirements to make sure hunters are being ethical and following the rules set by the biologist. And donate money or time to the game departments who benefit all wildlife. Because right now, hunters provide more funding than the anti-hunters to valuable conservations practices. Even Idaho, if I am not mistaken, even had a bounty out on the wolves. Collect pay for harvesting wolves. Now why would biologists authorize such a thing if wolves brought balance? Because its a myth masquerading as science. As a state licensed Professional HydroGeologist, I can assure you I know true science. And Sometimes following the science is not convenient.

Have you paid attention at all to the years of research and re-introduction process that has already taken place in other states? Actual encounters are rare, and 99% do not involve a wolf attacking a human being. We, as race, fear them because of their intelligence and their social tendencies. Go with facts and learning, instead of fear mongering. When you go out into the wilderness, be smart and take protective measures. You are more likely to be attacked by a bear, than a wolf.

The Yellowstone elk population shrunk 60% (80% at one point before wolf hunting was allowed in 2017) since wolf reintroduction in 1995. Yellowstone Moose populations have decreased 90% in the same time. The original 1994 study estimated a 7-13% drop. The Central Idaho elk population dropped 43 percent since 2002. Wolf populations in Idaho and Montana are more than three times the management objective set by the federal government and state wildlife agencies. 47% of moose calves are killed by wolves in Minnesota by 4 months of age. Also saw a 58% decline in overall population 2006 to 2017 and population decreases have not tapered off. One wolf consumes the equivalent of 1.8 elk every 30 days or 16-22 elk per year. CPW is releasing up to 50 wolves over the next 3 years. If the pack grows 40% per year as estimated, we will have 1,057 wolves in ten years. Wolves consume an average of 19 large animals (elk, deer, moose, livestock) per year each which amounts to 20,077 total in year 10. Colorado CPW biologists recommended against wolf reintroduction prior to the ballot initiative on multiple occasions. They are now gag ordered on any opinion on the matter. The Colorado wolf management plan does not spell out wolf or ungulate population targets nor will they say when management via hunting can occur. CPW states that they will refund ranchers up to $15k per animal lost to wolf predation out of the states general fund (your taxpayer dollars). Please help me understand what we are doing here?
