why people don't use winter tires? "Winter tires gain their advantage not only because they have superior tread patterns that are designed for traction on ice and snow, but because they employ softer rubber compounds to enhance grip. That means when it's cold, whether it's on dry pavement, snow, or slush, it'll outperform an all-season"

In Quebec, Canada, it is a $1,000 fine for anyone who is caught driving in the winter without winter tires, or those new 'all-weather' tires. (For those who live in the province of Quebec). The result of this is that almost no one gets stuck in the winter anymore as everyone has switched over to 'All-Weather' tires, which are 75% as good as winter tires.
@hhds113 Жыл бұрын
That's all fine and dandy but not everyone has the money for winter tires. Especially here in the U.S. And I've been driving with the same tires as I have in the summer and I don't get stuck in the snow. You have to know HOW to drive in it. And don't think winter tires makes you invincible to winter roads.

I witnessed several accident last night in one neighborhood at the round a bouts, and a subaru drive who couldn't see a red light a half mile away nearly slam into a pole narrowly missing it, thankfully the driver with the green light didn't take off yet. Yes it was slick but not unmanageable I was driving a fwd with all season and they were plenty, I was out for 3 hours driving. Its about looking ahead and using momentum, been driving for 12 years never been stuck. The people here can't drive in general when its dry, scared to death when it rains.

Point made. Colorado Springs doesn’t get much snow in the winter really and the snow doesn’t stick around after the storm.

do not really need studded tires. I've driven the past 9 years on 64 dollar per tire all weathers f rom walmart and have not had an issue. Even going down the hill at woodman road which is the last bit of the video...very steep down hill and uphill. The trick is not being an idiot and having good tread. I replace those cheap tires after 3 winters or if i drive more after two winters. As the saying goes 4 wheel or all wheel drive does not mean all wheel stop. I drive a front wheel sedan and before that i drove a rear wheel light pick up and had no issues in the past 19 years.
