Glad you weathered the storm and were able to warm up. Those cold wet nights are rough. Sorry about your dog. That is some rough news to get. Neat to see the deer. They don't seem to be too spooked either. That rail trail section was pretty awesome. You were hiking in history! Well done on all your passes. The views were amazing. Awesome stuff. Thanks for more great scenery as you approach Tin Cup Pass Road. Sorry for the loss of your pup, Mildred, I can relate; I've bawled more for a few our pups' deaths over the years than I have some kinfolks. You crossed Tin Cup Pass Road in your reflection of Mildred; I worked for a week in 2014 on the trail north of the road cutting in a new section of the CT West before it was fully opened. Back again in 2016 to build a new section of trail near the old Hancock town site. Day hiked the old RR grade up to the east portal on our day off, then decided to turn around, hiked back to our campsite, got in the FJC and drove into St. Elmo for a big cheese burger and fries served up by a local food truck. Thought about taking the FJ up toward Hancock lake but the cheese burger won out after about 5 days of camp food. Thanks for some up close, spectacular scenery I only saw from a distance at the CTF campsite.
