Sorry you had to stop your hike, Jerry. Hope your knee is healing well. I really enjoyed watching this entire series. Hopefully you can get back and finish the CT next year. You did a great job showcasing the awesome beauty of Colorado. Thanks for taking us along.

Thank you, Cameron. I should have had this knee looked at by a specialist after the Ouachita Trail, but the stress fracture is what I feel really knocked me off the trail. I believe it happened after Ant Creek somewhere in trail Segment 19. I'm hoping for some good news at the end of the month. Thanks for following along.

Awesome to catch a ride into town. Super nice of the guy to take you over the pass. Sorry to hear about the knee. Better to nurse it back to health than get more damage. We were in Silverton just a few weeks ago in a huge snow storm. It is nice to see without snow. I see your "flavor saver" (beard) kept part of the burrito for later. LOL. Pretty cool to see all the old buildings. We thought it was pretty cool that most all the roads are not paved. The round trip train ride was spectacular too. Train 493 was the same train that took us too. Pretty awesome. Sorry your adventure was cut short. I hope your injuries heal quick. The trail will still be there when you are ready to return. Well done on your adventure. Impressive accomplishment. Heck Yeah! Have a great day.

Yeah, I was lucky to get that ride because there's not many options for getting a ride out of Lake City. Harvey was a lifesaver and saved me more than a 100-mile loop drive around to get back to my truck in Durango. Silverton is part of my old stomping grounds. I love that town. I'm happy that y'all got to visit and to ride the trail. I've been riding it for years, since 1964. I got my first steroid injection on Thursday, and it was magical. I'm already back working out at the gym and appears I'm back on track to make the 4th Annual Texas Backpackers Meetup for next weekend! Hey, thanks for following along on my CT adventure! I'll be back to Spring Creek Pass in July to finish up the 127 miles that I have left to Durango. I hope we can meetup on the trail someday. Cheers my friend! ✌

I'm late to the party but this was a great series. I have dealt with bone on bone for a while and it has kept me off the trail for way too long. Knee problems are debilitating and I hope yours doesn't get to where mine are. I really enjoyed this and miss Colorado. Funny story; I was sitting in the Bent Elbow about15 years ago and one of my neighbors, Billy Ray Hall and his wife Amanda walked in. They about fell out when I hollered their name. 900 miles from home to see people who lived just down the road. Maybe one day I can get all my issues fixed enough to hook up for a hike ✌
@tangenttrailsАй бұрын
@@BluecollarBackcountry Yeah, knee issues are no joke. My specialist informed me that I will eventually need a knee replacement, but that’s on down the road. If my workouts go as planned, I’ll be back in the San Juans to finish up the CT in July. The San Juans are my second home. I’ve been stomping those grounds from earliest memory. lol. I would very much enjoy the opportunity for us to hike together again, my friend!

I'm really disappointed for your not being able to complete the CT all the way to Durango this year because of the bum knee but it was a wise decision to save the Lake City to Durango section of the trail until next season. And save that knee!!! IMHO, the CT sections between Lake City and Silverton are some of the most spectacular scenery I've ever seen when doing volunteer work on the trail. But Cinnamon Pass (with a side trip to American Basin), is a spectacular treat too! Enjoyed the walking tour of Silverton and bringing back some good memories. Always enjoyed breakfast at the Brown Bear Cafe and it was sad to hear it closed a few years ago. And thanks for a few good recommendations of where to have a meal next time through. Done the train ride twice and that's some scenery that never gets old. Congratulations on what you achieved this year and I'm really looking forward to seeing you finish up next year. Something to look forward to!!

@@DrJohn493 That’s two thru-hikes not finished this year due to my knee. I wasn’t surprised about the meniscus but the stress fracture was. I’m really looking forward to finishing up the San Juans. I’ve been on several backpacking trips into the Weminuche Wilderness but never on the CT. It’s my favorite area of the state. I’m just taking it one day at a time now waiting to find out whether or not knee surgery will be needed to repair the damage. Thanks following my vlogs and for the great conversations!
