Great work Big Guy! Always remember you are an encouragement to all of us just as we are to you in your efforts. I can't get over how much different the Colorado Trail is from the AT. If one can hack the altitude the views are definitely better out west. Keep it coming!

Man I needed this this morning, I’m starting my EMS career today at the age of 47-1/2, it’s a total career change after 20 years of pulling wrenches. It’s been incredibly hard work, and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve thought about quitting a few times because it’s so far out of my comfort zone. But here we are, day one, shift one. I’m incredibly nervous, but excited at the same time.

Nice! I'm my sections 1-13 I have not seen a single moose. But I did see a bear and got it all on Video. It was late in sec 8 between Camp Hale and Tennessee Pass. I was recording and hiking up the trail when I saw it about 50 feet in front of me. It slowly ran down off the trail and around me and crossed back up over the trail behind me about 50 feet. It even stopped at one point and took a quick look at me. That's the third time seeing a bear on a trail but first time I was alone. I got scared for just a sec when it took that pause. lol

I'm enjoying your hike! Do you see elderly hikers on those high mountain passes? (70's) Looking at the topo maps, a seinor citizen could make better choices of trails. Your thoughts?

On Day 7 I/we met Tinker who only starting hiking with 69 sun revolutions of experience. As people earn more sun revolutions, the effects of high altitude can become more pronounced and might be why I saw more 70ish folks on the AT vs CT. Each person has differing limitations and I can't say what's 'right' in terms of fitness to reach a high mountain pass but they sure do offer one heck of a view. 😃
