I believe in God, but this Representative guy saying silly 'poop' like this is just insane. And that book is so old and outdated as well was he wearing mixed fabrics, does he put his wife out the house during that time of the month, is he okay with owning slaves...but I digress, will he not suffer a Wiccan to live (all in that book he calls The Word) being translated so many times? Sidebar Sumerians mythlogy same stories! The God(dess) I know is about love and inclusion. If you have to separate yourself and say my marriage is so pure and better I do not want you to have the same rights as I do, again granted by the state - not a Church, then one you are not upholding your oath of office and keep that religion out of the halls. Best to you all Colorado...cheers from NYC, and know quite a few people there and hope it passes overwhelmingly. We should have been doing this to many many laws in the country removing them even if they are old such as that old law from the 1800s they are now being cited against women's reproduction. This is the wake up call. Thanks Colorado for answering and (hopefully) setting it right. I was visiting my elderly parents one weekend and they were watching TV when someone, speaking on the subject if same-sex marriage, declared “We MUST protect our traditional marriages and values from this gay threat!” Dad turns to Mom and asks “How long have we been married, Honey?” “It will be 60 years in June” she replied. Dad says, “In those 60 years have you ever noticed gay people threatening our marriage?” Mom: “No, have you?” Dad ponders this for a few seconds and agrees, “No, never have”, then reclined his chair and took a nap.

It was passed before Obergfell, at this point it's moot and dead letter, but should Obergfell be overturned (highly likely given the current state of SCOTUS) it would come back into effect. @Swampert38425 күн бұрын
@@mrvwbug4423the one thing about that is, at least as I understand American laws, in order for the ruling to be overturned a court case needs to be brought up to the Supreme Court which challenges Obergefell v Hodges, with enough precedent to justify overturning, then at least 5 of the justices need to rule in favour of overturning the 2015 ruling. So while it is possible, getting to that exact point would be a bit more difficult. My take: pretty much all grounds for excluding same-sex marriage from what public institutions recognize is religious. Hence, excluding same-sex marriage from what public institutions recognize is an unconstitutional establishment of religion. So, Colorado should remove this from the law-books entirely.
@tanyanguyen370425 күн бұрын
Yeah, thats not how laws work. Even if you know its wrong, illegal, against federal constitiuion, to actually remove it from the laws takes the legislature, and if the state managed to make it a state constituion change, then it has to go back to voters. There are laws on the books in some southern states, counties and cities about how to hold slaves, if you return them to their owner, or if the owner needs to provide testimony for ownership. Obviously, those laws cant be enforced, but they have to be removed by the state or city legislative body. Thats whats happeneing here. Since the 2006 law against same sex marriage was on the constitution, the people have to vote to remove it, as well.

I never imagined bottoms being opposed to gay marriage. But seriously, the thing is, God didn't invent marriage - the Catholic church did. And it wasn't available to the peasantry, only nobility, because it was a means of political and religious control. Even after it became mandated for everyone, you still had to register with the church (this is where the whole idea of being "licensed" to wed comes from). But it's fine. If you want to believe that it's God-given and should be controlled by the Christian churches, still, then you need to remove it and all State-based incentives that come with it (like tax breaks, inheritance, joint banking, power of attorney, and child incentives). We are a country that is founded on equality under the state and law NOT "I deserve more than other people because the God I believe in said so."
@mrvwbug442327 күн бұрын
Marriage as a societal concept predates civilization. As an institution regulated by government that would be during the middle ages by the Catholic church. Prior to that it was a mixture of religious observance and a business contract between families as the concept of love based marriage as the norm is really only something that has started within the last 200 years or so and really only in the west and east Asia, arranged marriage is still the norm in Africa, India and Islamic countries.

So king Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines, King Solomon was beloved by God, so does that mean. Concubinage and polygamy should be legal because God approved of King Solomon and by extension God also approves of both of these practices. I should also mention that in Leviticus, it says that wearing clothes of two different materials it is an abomination to God, so does that mean we should also outlaw clothing that has both leather and textiles, or a combination of any kind of materials? We had to vote on the same thing in Nevada in 2020 the question passed by almost 63% and the amendment to the state constitution now says marriage is between two people regardless of gender. If people are with the times and not hung up on BS religious objections it will also pass removing any language that does not allow two people to get married regardless of the gender of the two parties involved. Also, the constitution has protected religious views allowing them to refuse solemnizing same sex unions. At federal level it is now law that all states MUST recognize same sex married couples regardless of where the marriage took place so if this toxic and backwards SCOUTUS decides to overturn the right for same sex couples to marry which is what they want to do red states are going to got back to what they were doing was to amend their respective state constitutions so it's only between a man and a woman but they are going to have to recognize married couples done out of state so they may not get married in their home state but sure as hell they are going to have to comply with federal law and recognize those marriages. Project 2025 spells doom to LGBTQ rights and they may make it ilegal to be gay revamping the sodomy laws and put people in jail for being gay. WE need to make sure we vote Democrat at every level.

Go Colorado. Strike the amendment. I was friends with the two women (probably forgotten by most) who in I think 1975 (or therabouts) for a brief while were married by the Boulder clerk (who had looked at Colorado law anf saw nothing in it that prohibited gay marriage). A court soon overturned the clerk's decision, but it was those two Colorado women who were one of the first pioneers in the fight for marriage equality.

@gregcoogan827028 күн бұрын
Actually, He created us male and female designed to be attracted to the other for the purpose of procreation and to become one flesh in the bonds of the mystery of marriage. He did not create anyone gay. Homosexuality is a deviation from the norm. Another example would be that we have two legs in order to walk, being born with one leg is a deviation from the norm. You cannot walk with one leg. We live in a fallen world affected by sin, so things are not the way they are supposed to be, they deviate from the norm. Part of the message of the gospel is a restoration to the norm. Make sense? No hate here, just how it is.
