I love the New Mexican people mixed with Spanish blood. Their customs, food, Spanish language, music and food are similar to the country of Mexico but different, that's what makes New Mexicans unique. I am Mexican from Mexico and have visited New Mexico many times. Long live New Mexico and Mexico!

That music was played in dances way back in the day. My parents and Grandparents loved the valses, cunas, and all those dances. I had uncles who would play this music. The people who were dancing knew exactly how to dance. Well coordinated.

I took my elderly mother to listen to Antonia Apodaca in a school in Santa Fe, New Mexico many years ago when I worked at LANL and Las Hermanas Del Norte sponsored her music and my mother enjoyed listening to her music that she didnt want to come home that night. Now I am 82 yrs old and still listen to Antonia's music on utube and my mother has been in heaven since the year 2004 together with Antonia listening to her music over there. We should have more of that beautiful music nowadays in our New Mexico to keep people young and happy like in those days. Most of the elderly musicians have already died. Another musician in our area in those days was Eusebio Martinez from Medanales, New Mexico who played all kinds of instruments and did La Entrega de Los Novios for weddings and it was so beautiful. We don't have dances like in those days now. Maybe if we had music and dances like in those days there wouldn't be so much crime in the streets. At least the young and old were more orderly in those days.

I met Toni and jammed with her at the North American Folk Alliance Conference in Tucson in 1992, I also met Jeanie at that conference as well. Toni taught me some great insights to the accordion which i used later when i was recording my CD which i released in 1994 titled Vamos A LA Playa. I grew up listening and playing to this style of music where i was born and raised in a small Arizona town along the Mexican border called Nogales. I have some CD's that Toni gave me of her music and I enjoy listening to them regularly.

@@eliseomartinez7911 I’m a Hispanic nationalist, sure. I support Hispanic culture worldwide. We need to promote the Spanish language, and all Hispanic culture and traditions. Don’t let the Anglos eliminate our 2000+ year old history. But I’m not from New Mexico.

The “Apodaca” surname is very common in Nuevo Mexico and northern Mexico. I’ve met many people from Nuevo León and Chihuahua with this surname. I think there’s a city in Nuevo León with this name, Apodaca.
