I have this same set of QoR watercolors.....love them! I agree, their vibrancy is fantastic. This was a great video, by just using this set, you've shown how you can take these few colors, and by mixing them, letting them bleed together, dropping colors in here and there....you can come up with a beautiful painting! I find the hardest part is to do a first wash, another after it dries, and then a final tightening of the painting. Through your classes and videos, I am learning to be more patient. Thank you, Angela!

Beautiful painting. Great advice about toning down the technique you used with the cling film. I laughed at 12:59 when you said: "oh look, she used the cling wrap technique!" I think this is something some artists can overuse or keep too obvious in their paintings. I think you used it masterfully.

I am a beginner, with way too many paints - lol, but I do have a number of the QOR paints. I liked mixing the teal with the pyrrole orange / red. In the right wetness / thinness, the heavier teal would separate out and give interesting granulations. I could not mix grey using the orange, but I could with the red.

Really enjoyed this demo & review - even tho Qor has been out for a long time it's still refreshing to watch their flow coupled with you loose style. However I'm saddened that the flow seems to come at the expense of no granulation. Mixing with other brands with high granulation has helped to overcome that, tho diminishing the flow a bit. Have you found that to be the case as well Angela?

Hello Angela. I love your style. And I love QOR. I’ve been using myself for a while. Please could you tell me where you got your palette?
@letishiapilapil60017 жыл бұрын
Angela Fehr thanks kindly. I would have thought it was ceramic. Can you recommend a good ceramic palette from Canada?
@letishiapilapil60017 жыл бұрын
Hello Angela. I’m learning so much by watching your videos. I see you have emptied your tube of paints into the pans. And I saw on another video that you just moistened it by spraying them. I think this is where I’m going wrong. I only squeeze out what I think I will need for my project and add 10-15 drops of water and mix. I guess that is why I’m not getting the bright brilliance of the paint as you do on the paper. I’m a little worried about leaving the paint in a palette as it will dry out and crack in a plastic palette. Am I suppose to add a watercolour medium or something to prevent this? Also, should I be using a palette that has a lid to it? Is plastic ok or should I try to find ceramic?
@letishiapilapil60017 жыл бұрын
Angela Fehr Thanks Angela. This has been the most helpful explanation I’ve ever had. I always felt I was wasting too much paint and I do use professional paints so it’s expensive. Now I just need to get myself some good palettes.

What an amazing lesson, showing us all three layers to build a complete painting, thank you so very much! One thing I am still confused about however. Sometimes you start with an completely saturated piece of paper and add more pure pigment. In this case, you started with dry paper and added very diluted strokes of paint. I don’t see any real difference in the outcome. Am I missing something! Thanks again.

Except very cheap and reallly hopeless to USE colors, it seems to be difficult to find good watercolors here in Norway. There is two shops here in Oslo that offers, Sennelier, Old Holland, windsor & Newton and Cotman. The colors are very expensive too. It is kind of frustrating to try to paint vibrant, loose paintings with this restricted "palette". I've checked eBay and and Amazone, but they often say: Not for sale in Norway. So it is difficult to follow the colors of your pallette. I so would whish somebody would sell Daniel Smith here. That would have made it easier to get good result following your teaching. I would be happy if you could mention Windsor & Newton alternatives to Daniel Smith. Love your lessons, though and try to follow, I learn a lot. Just have to do some adjustments concerning the limited kind of colors I can Get here in Norway. 😀👏💐
@mooseblossoms7 жыл бұрын
Have you tried dickblick.com? I know they ship internationally. I'm not sure how expensive it would be. This is what came up when I tried to place an order to Norway: "This is an international order, so we can't calculate shipping charges while you wait. You'll receive an email within 3-4 business days confirming actual shipping charges. You'll need to reply with your approval before your order will be processed. Please note that these charges will not include taxes, duties or brokerage fees related to shipping your order from the U.S.; you will be responsible for paying these independently."
