Brilliant! I love these types of videos. (Personally, I don't care about the GSM of the Bible paper, etc.) I have learned so much from you. I would like to see more videos about how you mark up your Bible. Your Hebrew writing was so good.

im absolutely crazy for these videos of your pared-back travel bible notes. i have a reading bible i've so far avoided writing in (as opposed to my big messy study bible), but after seeing this--incredibly satisfying--group of videos im inspired to do a little annotation! would love to see more!

Thanks for this! Perhaps you could show us more examples of how to recognize and mark Hebrew poetry

The Jewish-sounding music when you were writing the verse in Hebrew was so funny! Great video as always.

In my Dutch Bibles, none of them see it as poetry! So I never recognized I it. Even though the flow is quite obvious! I always assumed the words of Adam were the first poetry! So thank you for this! I have one English study bible that does represent it, I just saw. .... thanks again!!! Love these little notes in between!

The great thing about studying in multiple languages is that the history of biblical interpretation is different within each language's tradition: you've probably gained clearer insights from certain passages within your Dutch Bibles, too, that you may see more obviously than someone who only has access to English resources. Thanks for sharing this interesting cultural difference between English and Dutch Bible translations -- makes me even more curious about how the Bible is read and interpreted in other languages.

God is both male and female? I was taught that in His image was we are triune, spirit, soul and body, so this is mind changing.

I think we are seeing, in real time, the creation of the JM Smith Study Bible.
@Saru12249
@Saru12249 2 ай бұрын
No, in all seriousness, what an amazing study Bible would be created if you, JM, were the editor/contributor and you had contributions from all the other guests that you’ve had on the Dojo.

But then, JM Smith might not review it as it would have a person's name on it, and he has said this recently about the MacArthur study bible. He might send us to Nicklesworth for a review.

Oh, I immediately thought of that too! But I think the solution might be in my second post. It’ll be more like a Disciple Dojo Study Bible, with contributions from all of his guests.

@Saru12249 possibly, and if he did it, I certainly would be interested in it.

The poetry is so beautiful and rhythmic in the original Hebrew. The best way I can convey that beauty and rhythm is like this: And God created Man in His image; In the image of God created He Him; Male and female created He Them. Also, I completely agree with you that the CSB kind of messes up the poetry.

This is how I have always interpreted this verse but I feel like it could be argued that the first two lines are saying that it was just the man האדם and him אתו that was created in the image of Elohim and the third line is adding the idea of a female after the man was created in the image of Elohim. But I think what solidifies the idea of duality is that the line before tells us that Elohim is an 'US' and that is why it is plural unlike how many people interpret the pluralization to the Creator's greatness.
