This is absolutely remarkable! I had no idea PP could do this (whether I myself can or not is a different question!). The skill of the demonstrator is jawdropping-I felt like I was watching a virtuoso play a Rachmaninoff concerto movement, saying, "it's not very hard, just do this!" Bravo team and demonstrator- this opens up new worlds! (Later, after using it a bit). The basic hack of using gradient maps to exploit the key fact that all parts of a real surface not a patchwork are just different lightings of the same color is not at all obvious, but once you get it, you're all set. Still, the use of the color adjustment dials in a sensitive and artistic way is still magic. Terrific features. So that's what gradient maps are for!

We're glad you enjoyed the tutorial. Indeed, once you get the basic principles of colorization, the rest is just pure creativity. You can be as detailed as you want with the colors themselves, depending on the result you're going for, and the time you want to dedicate to colorizing a photo. As for Gradient Maps, there are many more things they can be used for, but colorization is surely one of the cooler ones!

@@PixelmatorVideos More tutorials like this please. Competent demonstrations have been really lacking around Pixelmator Pro, and since it's so different from other photo editors, its handy watching someone who knows what they're doing to go through its many features.

Soy un gran fan de Pixelmator. Ojalá en el futuro incluyan un botón que haga todo esto con un solo click. Sé que quizá es mucho pedir, pero Pixelmator siempre me sorprende para bien. Un gran saludo.

Are you planning to add artboard or multiple canvases feature in the future? I know slicing to export is a work around but having a dedicated artboard feature would be nice.

thanks this is great! Curious if there is a specific reason you used gradient fill on the face but only color adjustments and then replace color on everything else?
@PixelmatorVideos
@PixelmatorVideos 7 ай бұрын
Glad you liked it! Yeah, so we went with gradient map fill for the face because the colors and shades on a face are pretty delicate. With gradient map, we can really fine-tune the colors, like the shadows, highlights, and middle tones, to get them just right. For the other stuff, color adjustments and replacing colors worked out better since those areas don't need as much precise tweaking.

Shame iPad version has only basic features cmpared to Mac app. Mac version is powerful with selecton tools and other usefull stuff. iPad version is just another app to do adjustments that many other apps can do.

Are you referring to the Pixelmator "Photo" or "Pixelmator for iOS" App - because both of them have a different tool set and are catered to different use cases
