This is beautiful!! How do you decide what color goes where in a painting like this?
@LironYan6 жыл бұрын
Thank you ^_^ Very spontaneously (: I tend to use lots of yellows where I know it will stay light, because yellow is generally lighter. I then vary it with red, usually. Blue tends to be darker (and red too sometimes), so I'll use these where the shadows are. So that means blue, purple and green shadows (all the mixes of blue + red / yellow). And sometimes I'll throw all of that out the window and just improvise! Give it a try (;

Thank you for your kind reply. I only heard about this type of brush yesterday for the first time, and it's great to see it in action when you use it. Your punchy and clear style of painting has caused me to put down other mediums and take out my watercolours again. I love the way you do not overwork your colours but leave the brightness of the paper to pop through.

Bingo! You are so right! Very well shown. I will say, though, that I find mother nature to have more interesting and more abundant colors than anything man-made... of course I'm including people and animals but its true of land/sea/sky scapes also. I do enjoy painting things (for lack of a better word) but mama nature has them beat for colors.

I get it, and I agree! But I would also say this one has a bit of mother nature, the rust is a naturally occurring phenomenon (; Haha! Flights are a great time to paint and draw (; And yes! Almost any subject can be made interesting, as long as you have a vision. I easily see beauty in mechanical objects with lots of straight lines, for some reason. Thank you ^_^
@dessyedeeclark1144 Жыл бұрын
@@LironYan your brain likely has engineering/ architectural design abilities and you have strong systems thinking. This links visual-spatial skills with function. How things work mechanically and physiologically, and in multiple space dimensions. I come from a family of engineers and didn't realize when I was younger that it was also associated with art and being a maker. Or why I had friends who were geologists and musicians. I composed music and liked to problem solve. Spent many years in healthcare before recognizing my art was indeed a basic need and I should allocate time for it. Hope others don't wait as long as I did.

Just subscribed. What advice you'd give to someone who has always used acrylic colors and now intends to learn watercolors? What is better- expensive colors or good quality watercolor paper? Silly questions, I know. 😅
@LironYan6 жыл бұрын
Haha, thank you and welcome aboard. These aren't silly questions at all! (: 1. There are endless ways, methods and approaches for watercolor painting. I suggest finding a style you like for yourself, and then learning from the person who does that style. Also, remember that watercolor has lots of properties that acrylics and other types don't, so play around with them a lot and learn what you enjoy! 2. Good quality paper in my opinion is more important. For me it was a HUGE difference, much more than when I switched paints. I hope this helps ^_^
