They had LEDs in 1976 because, at that time, I worked repairing calculators. They didn't have them in 1960s and an red LED needed about 50mA to light up: that's more than the circuit consumes in current. I had to repair one of these wah pedals recently and it had an open circuit inductor. This is a common fault. It is a 39mH and I wound one on a short piece of ferrite rod with about 10 m of about 30swg enameled copper wire. Thank you for uploading, I know how it should look inside, now.

I have absolutely no experience with old gear like this, total surprise for me to find it was true bypass, when i was working out the wiring! My dads got some nice gear. My 70's (vintage) fender twin was donated by him too :D

I just got one and it squeals at end of sweep is that mean it has a microphonic inductor? Any good replacements?

What is the pot travel in this setup? Looks like it's less than the full 270 degrees?

Awesome classic wah!

buffering is actually the newer thing in pedals, true bypass is the actual "vintage" way of bypassing circuits

I have an arion chorus sch1 pedal that turns on etc but only works if I put pressure on the tone knob I have to touch foot on tone knob for it to make sound any ideas?

beeastman123. check the solder joints that mount the tone pot, it's a common problem on that pedal

I am interested in building a colorsound wah. I have a copy of the Phillip Bryant schematic which I found online; It shows that the transistors are BC184 and BC167B. I can't find the BC167b (although small bear has the BC1840). Can you suggest more commonly available transistors which can work in place of the BC167B? thanks.

In the two I've built I used 2N3904s and 2N3053s.

I dont think we had LEDs in the 60s, I seem to remember everything used little bulbs, which would have run the battery down.
