@Bay bay Moore Yup. He was a jerk. I think it was Korea, not Japan. He wasn't just a jerk to his employees and to Anne, but when he learned he could control the monster, he started destroying Korea too - because he could. Anne had to stop him to save lives. It's was about as clear cut good vs bad as they could have written, though there were elements of abuse in the story, it wasn't all just monsters. The movie wasn't very subtle, but it's weirdness kind of carried it.

Woman discovers when she goes to this playground a monster manifests in Korea, and she exists as both. She breaks some stuff as big monsters do but tries to make amends, writing an apology. In her mundane life her childhood friend reconnects with her after a bad break up. But he quickly becomes clingy harassing controlling and then outright abusive. Discovers when in the field he becomes a giant robot in the same place. A far more cruel individual, he intentionally causes carnage. They have a kaiju fight and she loses. He says if she leaves him each day he’ll go to the field and slaughter more people. She leaves, and he prepares to make good on his promise, but as we see here, she left to get a flight to Korea correctly reasoning that when she’s there the monster would be in the field. You can see how round 2 went in this clip. The whole thing is a metaphor for alcoholism, harassment and abuse but with a kaiju.

"In other news, police are still investigating the bizarre death of an unidentified man who apparently fell through the roof of a Wal-Mart just outside Concord earlier this morning. Police and emergency personnel arrived within minutes and evacuated the store. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, but fortunately, no other injuries were reported."

First I want to say that I haven't actually watched colossal, but I like what I've seen. This is some beautiful metaphor work to express a narrative of recovery and healing from the lowest point in someone's life, the difficulties the failings but the eventual triumph. Discovering the strength defy someone this dangerous this toxic, and stop the violence. I think she learned to fully control this (Like ending the projection at will) because she learned to control herself. Partially related but I like how Gloria figured out it could work in reverse, a clever move.

I can't help but notice something about the monster in this final scene. Not only was it noticeably, shall we say, "smaller" that it did previously, but its body design looks quite different. I mean, even it's face looked more demonic-looking and threatening, almost as if to show that Gloria is now stepping out of her feeble and laidback shell and done putting up with Oscar's BS, finally ready to do something about it.
@vexxama
@vexxama 2 жыл бұрын
It definitely appears like a more focused effort on her part. She doesn’t want to be uncontrolled and destroy her surroundings by accident, but she has a lot more hate and anger for what’s in front of her. Less dangerous overall, but as you said, more threatening

Let's not take very crucial factors into account and instead let us conclude that: _"The monster looks more detailed in the sun compared to it in the night. Yo recordaba que en su momento, los trailers mostraban está película como una comedia, pero lo que vi acá, no lo parece. Esto parece más interesante que lo que se anunció en su momento.

Why in the world didn't seoul evacuate this area sooner? They know the schedule and general area the "monsters" appear. The people put themselves in danger. Is it just for dramatic effect for the ending scene? It's for dramatic effect, isn't it? To have hundreds of people fleeing the scene. This plot hole ruined the movie for me.

Weird movie, the finale is truly epic in a big way thanks to the soundtrack but I feel like many people switch off before reaching that point! It was cool seeing Anne in such a heroic epic role at the very end but apart from that, I’m done with fiction
