Colourful Pastel Eggs with Watercolors - Easter Card Idea

Easter is coming up and I thought I'd do something related to it. This can be an easter painting or a card that you can diy and give out to your friends and loved one. Despite how it looks, there are only a few simple steps with a lot of balancing and light layering. Hope the technique is doable and understandable for you guys! Happy painting and Happy Easter!

I painted this sweet bird's nest and eggs this morning. I needed an Easter card and this was perfect. I took advantage of option to buy you a "ko-fi" so I could get the line drawing, so I could get to the painting quicker. Great idea! Your tutorial was easy to follow. I like how you broke everything down step by step. I didn't have all the colors you used, but was able to mix colors that were close. And I didn't have the white ink so I used white gouache for that step. I am pretty happy with the results! I think the person who is getting it as a card will be happy, also. Thank you! @@Nianiani I did have a wonderful Easter! I saw Bluebirds in my backyard for the first time this Spring and later I went for a walk on the beach and got to watch three Piping Plovers searching for food in the sand. They are fascinating to watch. They shuffle their feet just under the surface of the sand to startle bugs and small critters! It's like a little dance! And later, on the way home, I spotted a Snowy Owl sitting on top of a utility pole! It was a very good Easter Sunday and a good bird day! A very beautiful Easter egg painting, the way you skillfully paint each egg without smearing the color is amazing. The color you choose for each egg is also very beautiful, in my country there is no Easter, but I guess this is a wonderful holiday in your country. Wishing you a happy Easter with your family.

@@Nianiani we almost lost my mother to covid and had to move her across the country to live with us to help her with recovery. The nerves and muscles in her leg were effected as was her memory. Her husband didn't recover and passed so we've been very busy. It is a big adjustment for all of us. At least now she can walk but not normal. Hopefully with time I'll be able to concentrate and paint again.

You should totally try it! What the worst that can happen ... it doesn't turn out the way you want and you learned some things in the process? 😊 It's all about having fun and allowing the watercolors to do their thing! Couple of tips: Make sure each layer is dry before adding more paint to darken it or use a thicker consistency. The more water you add will actually lift color (which can absolutely make a cool effect, but not appreciated if you aren't going for that look) and don't work it too much. As you know, watercolors dry lighter. Better to start too light than try to lift off darker colors. Cheers! ❤

I saw you tapping the eraser to lighten the pencil lines. I always use a kneaded eraser and roll it over the painting. It’s works really well. I thought i would share the tip :)

I personally havent found a good kneadable eraser XD it seems to smudge my pencil marks instead haha but the eraser tht I hv is really good and cleans really easily, so it doesn't take much pressure to lighten the outline by tapping. Really appreciate your tip though! 😊😊😊

Happy Easter! It turned out perfect, imho. Watching you paint is always fascinating and peaceful at the same time. I like how you use the white ink to add the greenery. I'm a beginner to watercolors and am used to people mentioning gouache for similar techniques and am wondering if you like the ink because it's more subtle or is it some other reason? I use it the same was as how I use gouache, but it's just very opaque which is why I find it very useful :)

I usually do tiny trials if I'm unsure about certain techniques, and sometimes I just film straight away. Sometimes I also need to re-film things coz it didn't turn out as I want it to 😅 it's a mixture of things :p

You can use any synthetic brushes like reeves and things.. It also frays after a while but I just love the colour 😅

Beautiful painting, recently found your channel. Would you please list the brushes used as well as the eraser. I use a knead eraser but find sometimes it doesn’t lift as much pencil I’d like without damaging to the paper. Thank you so much. 🙏
