I have found that a hair straightening iron is wonderful for un-wrinkling small items like seam binding and ribbon. Just put it in between and pull it through. Love your channel. You make such beautiful things.

An inexpensive substitute for seam binding, is fabric cut in strips on the bias. Bias reduces fraying. If the Sam binding is rayon, then rayon fabric (even harvested from used clothing) can be used. Even brightly colored fabric can be over dyed to make a lovely muted color. When there are short pieces of bonding or fabric, multiple colors can be used in one flower, and look nice with a darker color in the center. I do silk ribbon embroidery and crazy quilting, so fabric, lace, tulle, etc., are often used. Lining fabric harvested from used garments of many kinds can be very inexpensive.

Small craft irons can be pricy but charity shops often sell small travel irons cheaper - or hair straighteners will work too.

I went to America last year, to Missouri Star area and no one had heard of Hug Snug Seam Binding, which I find a bit ironic seeing as it is the home of fabrics. I was gutted as I thought I was going to buy a few rolls of this and save myself some money.

Sadly ….they don’t make snug hug seam binding any longer….so if you find any, buy buy buy!! My favorite color?…… boil Avocado skins & pits until you have a gorgeous pale pink /peach color. Then dip your seam binding, doilies, cotton fabrics & trim. You will be addicted!! There are videos to show you how! The color is stunning & very vintage! ……..And you can make guacamole too!
