I remember back in the day someone here on youtube tested the Lime Crime hair tints on dark hair and they didnt really show up in indoor lighting but in outdoor sunshine you could really see them. Just the very dark ones though.

I've worked as a stylist for over 20 years, and I've never seen vivid colors so anything on any hair color that hasn't been pre lightened. If Colourpop doesn't start having that tid bit of info included, this product is going to flop faster than ultra fine hair on the Florida coast.

It’s definitely advertised as simply a hair tint. Not as hair color. So I think most understand what that means :)

Thanks for taking one for the team and trying out one of the shades on your hair! You might see chestnut show up in your hair while outside because your hair is so dark. I know this from experience from the first time dyed my hair purple because we have the same color hair lol!

How has it already been 3 years since your wedding?!? Also if you are a level 8 or higher those will probably not just wash out especially the blues that will most likely turn greenish as they rinse out. Also aquafore helps big time with any possible staining 🖤

Thank you for showing on dark hair! I haven’t seen anyone else do this except @Makeup.Just.For.Fun but she bleached the bottom tips of her hair first. I do think that the chestnut shows a subtle tint and makes your hair look more rich, even though it’s not the color you wanted.

this is not formulated to show up on dark hair, it doesn't have bleach or ammonia. says best applied on pre-lightened (aka bleached) hair.

So pretty but a shame they don't show up on darker hair. The only colours I've found that work on mine is manic panic. I wonder if they'll expand their range if it gets popular to include more colours for darker hair.

It's impossible to get bright color on dark hair. It's like coloring on black paper. You have to lighten if you want vibrant color. Otherwise, you'll just get a barely-there tint.

The most you’ll ever get out of semi/demi permanent colors on dark hair is a tint depending on the depth of the color you are using. Permanent vivids will show up a bit more on dark hair (also depending on the depth of the dye you are using). For vibrant vivid colors you’d need to bleach and lift your hair level.

The only hair dye that works for dark hair without any sort of lightening is henna. The downside is that I absolutely recommend getting another set of hands to apply it because it's thick and you need to coat it on. Also the time difference to let it work is considerable (at least 2-4 hrs) but the color payoff is fantastic. If you want red hair, go with henna, and if you're feeling more ambitious you can use indigo to darken it (like for black hair look). Colourpop is cool for doing a hair color line, but only those who have light hair or bleach will benefit from these sorts of dyes :/

You have gorgeous hair! I would've thought the same as you and left the color on for approx. 30 minutes. I noticed on Colour Pop's website the following info and thought you might find it helpful: let colour sit for at least 30-45 minutes, or 1-2 hours for longer-lasting and more intense colour. rinse thoroughly in cold water until water runs clear. do not shampoo. conditioner optional. enjoy your mane event!

I wish you had filmed the end results in natural lighting too, think it would've actually shown the true pay off of the tint. When you run your fingers through your hair I see the payoff on the outer strands.

I just use Overtone. I had never had my hair colored so I was scared the first time so I didn't really have it bleached much and the Overtone I used was still visible. It shows on the site what it will look like in darker hair with is honestly pretty accurate, imo. I recently had my hair bleached a little more and it shows up well. Also, I apply Overtone without gloves and just use my hands and it only stains my nails a little. I highly suggest Overtone. (I have very dark hair and used extreme purple)

you look gorgeous, and thanks for trying it for us fellow dark haired people. Suggestion though.....normally when using semi permanent dyes on dark hair it normally tint's it and even then that tint is normally noticeable in sunlight.....so maybe it might show in sunlight?

i can see a little tint. but just when the light hits it the right way. just a little warmer. had the same with purple and blue back when all my hair was dark. best visible in the sun. and just a little hue. sure it will be the same with the other colours.

Try the purple. It can make your hair more successful. I go to my Colourista and hair stylist, Natasha. She used purple 8n dark brown like your hair colour. It may work with your own hair. Such a bummer. Now Fourth Ray or even SOL would be cool. However I know and love, the Colourpop as a makeup and tools, accessories. With the sister brands I think hair and skin care products. That's my opinion. I have lighter brown coppery colour. With medium brown hair. Shae you are unstoppable and know you ARE loved and very important and beautiful. Thank you! Stay Pawsome.

I colored my hair from golden brown to rose gold to orange sunset over the year months apart because I know (it’s unhealthy to color your hair too much unless you maintain healthy haircare) and am keeping it orange sunset style but I want to have pink highlights, I like the chestnut color and the peach color, I’d be curious to try it so I hope there’s plenty available for everyone because I hate seeing the roots go out sobs

Try to leave It in longer. I've tinted my hair with color conditioners before and the longer you leave it in the better.for darker hair

No matter what color u get, it will not show up on ur natural hair color unless u balayage it first and keep ur dark roots! That’s what I did and I love my blue hair!
