Just graduated college and have to say this is the best college movie ever, and so many parts capture the frenzy of emotions you go through there. The movie is awfully romantic and warm with meet-cute scenes like this. When you combine the narcissism with the yearning to fall in love, you get an emotionally honest and complex portrayal of youth that few movies have captured.

This version of the song cannot be found anywhere!!! I even bought the soundtrack to this movie and it’s the regular version of Colours. Colours is beautiful and my wife and I had it as our wedding song. But where is this richer version of the song?!?! I can’t believe it was not on the official soundtrack
@ChoirofVVolves12 жыл бұрын
i remember watching this movie for the first time years ago and loving the soundtrack so much. filthy romantics with scummy freedom!! this and the cure are perhaps the two greatest placement sections in the film, where it's tough to image anything else with them now.
@avary13 жыл бұрын
@camerapants My apologies that the iTunes soundtrack contains an alternate version of Colours. The version used in the film was from a 1/4" reel-to-reel recording I had for many, many years, and when the soundtrack CD was being mastered my recording wasn't available and someone from the label chose to use this version -- I believe because it was from an album in release at the time. When I found out I tried to rectify the choice, but it was too late. So ... sorry. My eye wasn't on the ball.

I'm not sure how you can enjoy this movie as you say. Maybe if they actually added in all the content from the book it would make sense. Otherwise it really doesn't make sense. Good music, good scenes but terrible character development.
@Ikaros2310 ай бұрын
@@awskater5899 Have you even read the book`s of Bret Easton Ellis?. 1: The film is a masterwork and a brilliant adaptation of the book. And the topic of sex, drug`s, liberal culture, narcissism has played in the elites. And that this toxic lifestyle often ends in tragedy ( Less Than Zero, American Psycho, Glamorama, The informers) This is often the underlying theme in Ellis story`s. The actors play great, and there is in fact good character development, you just use words to sound intellectual and smart. 2: Film adaptations are never meant to be a copy of a book. The directors always`s make their own version of the book. Take artistic freedoms and so on. If you think that film adaptations should be a 100% copy of a book, then it`s obvious that you are never going to see a film adaptation in your life that will fit that standard. Often book`s also is largely in the head/thoughts of the characters and this would not play out good in a film, that is based in a visual and not a abstract scene like in a mind. I`m not saying this to be a troll. Just giveing you a feed back so you can enjoy films better. Also check out the film adaptations of " Less than Zero" and " the informers" , they are great!

Both versions are by Donovan. The original version came out in 1965. When Epic Records was putting together a Donovan greatest hits record in 1969 they couldn’t secure the rights to the original track, so they had Donovan re-record it and this is the version that came out of that session. I couldn’t find a digital version of this anywhere other than here either, so I had to find a CD version of the greatest hits album on ebay, and then burn it to my iTunes playlist. Totally worth it, it’s such a beautiful song.

For anyone curious why Pulp Fiction was as great as it was look no further than the highly underrated talent of Roger Avery. This film was and still is simultaneously of it’s time and a harbinger of everything that we’re living in now in terms of disassociated kids living in an abyss of hedonistic pleasure seeking fantasy.

I’m a huge fan of the book (and all bret Easton Ellis) and I think this movie may be the best film adaptation of a book ever. The things it changes from the novel are either stylistic choices that give the film a certain vibe which separates it from the books dreariness or character or plot changes that make the film better than the book in some ways. Paul is way better in the film imo as in the book he’s quite dull compared to the other protagonists but in the film he steals the show due to Ian sommerholds performance and the amazing scripting. The directing and cinematography is only amazing, the six different ways scene gives me goosebumps it’s so well done.

Donovan’s The Hurdy Gurdy Man 2005 digitally remasterd has this version on it. The version from the movie is slightly faster and higher pitched. I ripped the song off the CD with EAC and used Audacity. Under effects chose change speed and entered 4. I then edited out some of the beginning to match the above video. Now it’s much closer to the version above.
