There are so many beautiful old pistols & revolvers that would be a pleasure to own and plink with! that Colt .25acp is a prime example! Canada's gun laws remind me that freedom is just word here. i cannot even legally enjoy target shooting with my air pistols in my basement, or on my property in a safe manner because of the "no dishcharge within city limits" municipal bylaws.

Did I hear correctly that the "crown" wants to melt down those classic colts?!? That's crazy! Perhaps they'd let you sell them to us in America so they are preserved. My brother-in-law has a classic Colt .32 ACP pistol with a shrouded hammer.

In the 1970s and 1980s I worked for John Vernon Martz the Luger and P38 maker fro Lincoln, CA and from my experience the Colt pistols are not that difficult to replace though we mostly made parts for the Luger/P38 pistols. It is too bad when a high quality firearm gets destroyed but mainly, what one needs are mechanical drawings and machine tools and skills. How to make parts, how to gage and inspect parts and assemble them. I had most of the old automatic pistols until they were stolen along with my house through title theft. I am still legally persuing help.

Those laws make no sense. There are a lot of people in the states that conceal full size 1911s without to much trouble. In fact, I've done it myself.

I have 6 of them .my Dad was a cop 1949-1981. The oldest has no rifling in the barrel is a 5 digit pre-WW1. It never misfires unless you use hollowpoints. IE: it will fire the hp round but cant eject spent shell. Its common from what i sm told. The early ones have different mags

I am lucky enough to be a 12(6) owner and I agree about changing the legislation as it makes no sense. One of mine is a 1906 FN vest pocket pistol in .25 acp, the forerunner to the Colt 1908 .25 and both designed by John Browning. When I meet friends at the range I sometimes make it a “Prohib” day for them and they get to enjoy shooting handguns that they will never be able to own under the current legislation. The irony is that one of my prohib handguns is a Ruger Security Six .357 magnum, that is larger and heavier than one of my restricted full size 9mm handguns. But because of the arbitrary 4 inch barrel length it’s classed as 12(6) and prohibited.

i'm in the US and picked one of these up 3 or 4 years ago. I sometimes just throw it in my pocket or camping back if I'm traveling as a little back-up gun to my main carry.

Those are great little pistols, not really meant for anything but close range self-defense work though, but, as you said, they were made of high-quality materials, & with great pride of workmanship. Anyone should be able to tell they were not manufactured to be dangerous to their users, the grip safety alone shows that they were built with great attention to preventing any accidental discharge.

Sceptics opine that the cartridge is too puny to consider for self defence, yet throughout the decades small calibre firearms have protected their owners by stopping violent attackers! There is nothing puny about being shot at close range by small calibre firearms, especially when the shooter is able to take aim before firing. I would have no qualms about relying on a reliable small calibre handgun for self defence. Careful ammunition selection and repeated, consistent practice with one's personal defence weapon is the key to accuracy.
@vee_emm_jay_ess7 жыл бұрын
Yes, legislation needs to be changed for sure! One thing I would love to see in Canada is an annual parade where all licensed law abiding gun owners do a parade with their favorite gun strapped to their chest. The LGBTQ community celebrates what they love and display it in the form of a parade and I believe we should have that same right. Guaranteed to be the safest streets in Canada...wishful thinking I guess :)
@thecanadiangunvaultinc.12517 жыл бұрын
I don't think we will be having a parade any time soon. but a group charity shoot open to the public at one of our local ranges is definitely in the works. Its time we let them see what the Canadian Firearm community is all about. The CGV.

No more dangerous than any other brother. I've seen the pathology reports and been at post mortems your absolutely right....a projectile with this type of size, shape and weight does behave differently than others but ultimately is no more dangerous than anything else that goes bang in the wrong hands. We need to get out of the mindset that some items are more dangerous than others. The anti gun community will twist anything they can to their advantage. its time that we begin to place blame squarely on the end user and insist that people and not items be held accountable for their actions. The "fight for our rights" is upon us. ' Its time that we start to play smart. Thank you for watching. and if your on board.....for joining the movement. The CGV.

Thankyou Gregory. We appreciate your kind words of support.
