*Revolvers are nostalgic, and cool to me, and as a firearm enthusiast; I like their mechanical simplicity.* *I own 1 revolver, a 460 S&W, but I've been looking at the 2 Colts you mentioned here in 357 because someone said they liked the King Cobra Target.(made me look)* *I share the same views as you, and am starting to think I should get one just for fun.* *I was able to size up the grip from your presentation, but still waiting on a purchasing choice until it's in my hand.* *Thanks for the great review. - Thumbs up # 137*

+- This Colt King Cobra .357 Magnum "Target" revolver in stainless steel with 4.2" barrel is an attractive, handsome, and historical looking revolver, despite being modern. A .357 Magnum revolver with 4" or 4.2" barrel, especially in stainless steel, is a very practical, versatile, and useful handgun to own and carry, including for the private free thinking citizen who is limited to owning only one handgun. Even useful for the extended family too who is competent, knowledgeable, accurate, and who knows how to safely shoot it. This applies not just to this Colt King Cobra, but likewise to Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Taurus and Rossi (Brazilian make) and others. Read my posted letter below which explains why I feel this way. ---Jim Farmer Klamath County, Oregon Lake County Examiner, Lakeview, Oregon: Wednesday, March 24th, 2021/Letters To The Editor Best general-purpose handgun For a general-purpose handgun consider Ruger’s SP-101 .357 Magnum revolver: “stainless steel”, 5 shot swing out cylinder (double-action), with 4.2” barrel and target sights for the citizen owning only one handgun. Versatile for "self-defense/house protection/concealed carry", as a kit and trail gun for the outdoorsman/ sportsman, and for urban metro vs. wilderness rural use. At 30 oz. unloaded lightweight (for the hiker, backpacker, trapper), yet heavy enough to handle the .357 Magnum. Loaded with. *38 Special 148 grain lead target wad-cutter ammo (next to a .22 or .32) practical for hunting small game: rabbit, squirrel, and grouse (for the campfire skillet), for dispatching vermin such as raccoon, skunk, possum, etc. Even for butchering livestock such as cattle with a head shot Loaded with CCI's classic .38 Special shot or snake load of No. 9 shot highly effective in killing rattlesnakes. Readily and instantly accessible in reach via a nightstand, dresser or bureau drawer, or next to a sleeping bag inside a tent is very comforting armed security to have, especially at night. This handgun would also be great for a long-haul trucker, or hay hauler, to carry. Even for the motorist traveling on a road trip. Yes, bear in mind being broken down, stranded, and having to spend the night alone in your vehicle. This .38/.357 revolver combination along with an Atomic Beam Flashlight, survival knife, fresh drinking water, food, toilet paper, shovel, matches, wool blanket, etc. could certainly take back the night. Even for a woman it's smaller frame and size would still fit her smaller hands. And firing.38 Special ammo in this .357 Magnum could still be handled by a female. Double action revolvers can be improved with aftermarket combat rubber grips . I recommend reading, "Meet Ruger's SP-101 Revolver: The Ideal Gun For Self Defense", by Kyle Mizokan via the April 2019 issue of The National Interest. James A. Farmer Merrill, Oregon (Klamath County) Long Live The State of Jefferson! On the Net: Ruger Firearms at www.ruger.com. Note also "SP-101 Like Physics 101, Only Practical", by Law Officer for Saturday, January 3, 2009. *.357 Magnum revolvers will chamber and fire .38 Special ammo, but not the reverse.

@@tropocal2343 . Yes, I certainly understand. Yet for some people, Ruger's SP-101 may still be an excellent choice, including for many women who have smaller hands. ---Jim Farmer

For those that will buy the King Cobra "Target" Model, the gun will have wood grips install and I found them very uncomfortable, as the trigger guard will smack my knuckle upon recoil. I bought a New/Used rubber grip off of eBay. It came off a never fired King Cobra .22LR model and it fit perfectly. I have medium size hands (Size 8 gloves) and the finger cut out has enough space to keep my knuckle from smacking on the trigger guard. I hope this helps.

When you drew the gun from your belt, what holster where you using? I just picked up a KC Target last night and need a good holster for woods walks.

It was a generic 4” revolver soft holster, I wouldn’t recommend it for EDC. Sorry about that, I’m not a big revolver guy so I don’t have a recommendation. Thanks for stopping by the channel!

@Iron Head mine was a target model, and a buddy of mine had the same issue... maybe it was an early batch problem but still left a sour taste in my mouth after spending 1300 on it and having it break two weeks in.

@Iron Head take it for what its worth, our experiences with these colts may not happen to everyone.. but when it broke colt sent me a new hammer and expected me to fix it myself, i sold it and cut my losses.

Well done video except.. Cringing when you were flopping the cylinder open. I know your new to revolvers so just know this can affect the crane and can lead to very expensive repairs.

Rear sight is all the way over to the left. If the gun is on target with this adjustment, that indicates that the barrel was not properly fitted to the frame at the factory. Therein lies the 50+ year problem with Colts........CRAPPY QUALITY CONTROL. I'll stick with Smiths and Rugers.

Get a Colt and shoot enough magnum ammo and you will have timing problems.

If you have enough money to do that then you easily have enough money to buy another piece...they dont go outta time with a couple hundred or even thousands of rounds...

I recommend never spinning any loaded gun, single action or double action. The gun is confirmed cleared, and shown as such multiple times in the video during the table top portion of the review.
