General consensus on the interwebs is that many people seem to like the look of the 2-hole vented rib on the 4 in over this 3-hole design. Something to consider….

The flutes on the barrel look funny. My old 1968 Colt 6” bbl. had Royal Blue on it the same as my 270 Colt Sauer Rifle.

Rumors are colt is returning back to the 2 rib 4.25” blued python. I held off buying this gun because it has 3 ribs. Now I’m watching those same people rush to buy the 3 vented pythons. Colt is doing the right thing going back to the two vent. If scalpers try to sell the 3 vent as rare please “Slap” them and call them scumbags.

I can't even begin to say how ecstatic I am that blued Pythons are back. I hope the 2.5" and 3" barrel models follow shortly thereafter, but I'll be picking up a 4" model as soon as I can find one. (A return of a blued Colt MKIII Trooper would be pretty cool to see too.)

Colt/CZ should bring back the law enforcement line wheel guns such as the Lawman, Trooper, air marshal and Detective special. I think they’d sell well.

WOW! Never thought they would bring the carbon steel back in order to do the blue. Cool. Now the question will be how good is the polishing & how will it compare to the old Royal Blue. Polishing is key when it comes to bluing & nickeling.

To get the finish they have on the Stainless, t's done pretty well. Same process, but a bluing step on carbon steel.

I would keep the Combat Elite since it will probably be limited run and more valuable in the future. Then buy the blued one when the heat dies down. They're gonna be hard to find and marked up way over msrp.

@@jt31713 bc you know it’s true my guy. I bought one in November. It was way out of time and a piece of shit internally. Near impossible to fix without a skilled gunsmith. Sold it, now I can get a new one that doesn’t have problems and is an easy fix if there were any.

the old blue version may not tank because they had to go ahead and add 3 vents to the 4.25 where the original has the 2 vents probably making it more valuable now colt should have never done that

This to me is a fail from Colt. 1. It is not Royal Blue 2. Only 2 barrel lengths? 3. Ruined the classic look which I would think would alienate the type of buyer that would be interested in a blued revolver in 2024. The original Royal Blue Pythons are very beautiful guns, they DO NOT have blued hammers, and have the proper amount of vents in the barrel rib which should have been 2 NOT 3 in this barrel length. Maybe I am off base but $200 more for this I think will not sell as well as it would have potentially if they did it more true to the original. I believe the type of buyer who would be more into this would be more traditionally minded thus not as likely interested in this Blued Python in its current configuration. Good luck Colt, hopefully you will bring back lightweight revolvers next and some new ones.

@colinj5291 Because the people that buy them don't know any batter thinking it's a real python or anaconda. They are not. The guns of years past were fine tuned and assembled by hand. Today they are straight assembly line guns. Plus they only make so much to give the appearance they are rare amd only appeal to a small portion of the market. This is the reason why Colt always falls into bankruptcy. Bad business decisions and no innovation. No excuse me as I head over the the staccato booth

I would personally like to see some close-ups of it on a work bench with some good lighting. And without fingerprint smudges all over the finish. I'm sure the bluing is better than anything coming out right now.
