It looks like there are 8 regions/biomes on the map. Force gaming played the most clearing the first area and took him about 15 hours. However, you couldn't access the main city so probably a lot of side content there. It's not crazy to think this game has 150 hours of content.

Personally have never been a huge fan of 3rd person POV. For games built around it from the start, such as Assassins Creed, it is quite fitting. But in general, having 1st person POV always will aid far more in aspects of immersion for the player & allowing for more intimacy within a game world; just making a closer/ smaller gap of one "being in" a games world firsthand. Its cool that they made it an option here in Avowed, but it still strikes me a bit strange so many comments seemingly really wanted it... Lets keep in mind that Avowed was clearly crafted with 1st person camera as #1; so judging the added 3rd person should not be too harsh / detrimental to a overall viewing of the experience to be had with Avowed

I'll preface this by saying that I do like first person games. However, I do not find them as immersive as 3rd person games. Games like Red Dead 2 and Witcher 3 definitely show the immense immersion that 3rd person games offer. Dead Space, GTA, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and many more are up there as well. Plus, the physical connection of seeing your play character is great! Why customize them if you can't see them? That being said, the current state that Cyberpunk 2077 is in probably makes it the most immersive game ever made. Personally, I'm happy they added it. I'll definitely be forgiving of some less than stellar animations since Obsidian designed the game for 1st person. It's great that they and other developers give us all the choice. Switching between the two is sick.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Console gaming has been bad for like 5 years now. Ray tracing is the future. PC needs at least a 4070 ti with balanced upscaling on newer titles to have a decent 1440p experience. Most TVs are 4k, that requires at least a 4080 Super with upscaling. You actually think a $400 console will be good?! Lmao You need a $1500+(mine was a $2800 build) PC now days to take advantage of what most TVs are, 4k at 60 fps. Yes, the next gen consoles will be better but then PC players will be 4k 120+ fps all day by then and consoles will finally be at the 4k60 mark 7 years late...and that's with consoles using fake performance(frame gen) 😂

Gives me the magical warm fuzzies of scenery that Skyrim offers. Love the verticality and adventure elements. Jumping across ledges and breaking into caves, the interactivity. A single cinematic trailer very early on that lots of people, for some reason, took as the "full structural basis" for how the game "should" look... A better viewing is to be open for what vision the devs have & wish to present, choosing however best to really craft a grand experience. Personally am very glad the color palette is much more vibrant; it's a great basis for creating some really gorgeous scenery, rather than a focus on dark-grey-grim feelings. Which isn't bad, but it's not what Avowed is. I find many people have very deluded / far out expectations that really make little sense or are rather unbacked by anything solid. Except nothing & one can be ready for anything. When one creates expectations/specific desires of something (that they play no part in creating), this is setting one up for disappointment! Again, a viewing of "I'm open for whatever vision the devs have crafted & wish to serve unto us", with few or actually (reasonable) wants, makes a lot more sense AND is a better formula for getting to be experiencing things with much more fun & enjoyment. Plus: all we have seen is the first zone, which is a starting area of white sandy shores & blue waters, rolling green fields & trees... There is high chance of there being a zone that's way "darker more grim" looking... Who knows; dark caves and volcanic looking mountain-esque area with dead forests, cloudy grey skies...

It's just Not-Skyrim / Elderscrolls or Of Might and magic. Which is fine, I wish I could get into these weirdly realistically art styled fantasy games, but as a developer I know why they went this direction. Because UE5 has a lot of really new tools that makes the development process more drag and drop friendly from an animation perspective with their human form creation tools. You don't have to rig everything like facial animation or movement when UE5 has presets. So this just gives low effort from a presentation perspective.

You can find it by searching " Avowed Preview With Game Director Carrie Patel ". She says at 15:00: I want to clarify 30 FPS is not our target, we will hit that at the very least. We are fully into performance optimization, we want to fully deliver a beautiful world at the best frame rate we possibly can, we're working on that right now." I guess she doesn't outright say 60fps, but its heavily implied that's their intention, I would say. I will own up to that technically putting words in her mouth tho.

Been waiting on Avowed for a while, but with tempered expectations. I adored Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2, so a first/third person game in that world makes up for there not being a Pillars 3. The facial animations look a little stiff, but if the combat and the writing are both good (especially the writing, since that’s Obsidian’s whole schtick), I’ll be plenty satisfied with Avowed.

I truly do not get the “anti-woke narrative” that some of these comments are spouting. You do know what studio we are talking about here? This is Obsidian games, the follow up studio of Black Isles Studios, they introduced the first gay marriage option in any video game ever and the lead producer/writer of their flag branch title a little game called FALLOUT, was a gay man. This is a studio that has always thrived to be progressive. Why people can’t simple analyze a game on its quality of well y’know GAMEPLAY! Is beyond me. “Oh well you can choose your pronouns in this game so i won’t play😢” has to be one of the most chronically online things I have ever seen. @ Disco Elysium is a great example, plenty of people, content creators and journalist alike have refused to play it due to its left wing themes, and that’s just one. People tend to forget games at the end of the day are made from a perspective, whether a piece of media blatantly being “political” or not is not the question. It’s down even to the aspect of how something was created, look at stalker 2. The game is inherently not “too” political or quote on quote “pushing a message” but let alone the context that it was devoloped in a warzone has made nutjobs equate it to “anti-Russian” propaganda. Whether it’s a good game or not is not equated, you no longer rate it on the state as a game but as a piece of media that exists in spite of another countries invasion. At the end of the day everyone is allowed to make media from the aspects in which they live their lives. So yes, someone people make games who are left wing, some make them who are gay, trans, ect. People tend to forget game making is an art space, and art spaces are dominated by the abstract. Do not get me wrong, i do not agree with false inclusion. Making a product with the sole purpose of “pushing” an agenda is bad no matter the context. But when people hear that all that think is how they are being preached at. When In reality it’s usually quite more complex. Im against any inclusion for brownie points alone. Certain companies, organizations and institutions that are founded for the simple sake of altering media for such standards are wrong, but not because of their inclusion but because of their altering of the original product. Nevertheless, any such things are drops in an ocean in contexts to real issues within gaming, i truly believe something as harmless as a “pronoun” option in a video game is such a trivial thing to get upset at when in reality it’s such a trivial thing to add in the first place, it requires zero to no effort to program. This is not someone programming an 8 hour unskippable quest line where you have gay sex and are preached critical race theory. It’s just pronouns, they are basic linguistic terms. That’s it.
