Cowpoke is a very old song. Eddy Arnold did the song, and he song it in one of his movies in the 40s or 50s. Eddy Arnold is both a actor/singer in the old. days. A lot of country western singers back then do both. Cowpoke means a cowhand or a cowboy who works on a ranch which can be a cattle drive to travel. Colter Wall also covered Big Iron, a number 1 hit for Marty Robbins in the 50s. Colter also did Happy Reunion. A lot of his songs are covers. KateMcCannon is the song that he wrote. Sadly, record labels are labeling classic country as folk or Americana now which is not correct.

Colter's "Western Swing and Waltzes" is a great song that he wrote about the area of Canada he grew up in and shows off his storytelling ability, while his song "Plain to See Plainsman" is a song he wrote about feeling homesick while on tour and has some great storytelling as well. Also, if you liked Colter, you might also like Corb Lund and his song "The Truth Comes Out" or "Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier," which are also rich in storytelling.

Colters song Kate McCannon is a song that I believe he wrote. Also Devil wears a suit and tie is another he wrote. Both have excellent live versions. Personal favorite cover is “Bob Fudge” he definitely sings it better than the original

There is a musician on KZbin who has a similar voice to Colter Wall's voice! You have to react to him my man! This dude's voice is even lower than Colter's voice and he is only 19 years old I think.. In this video you can hear what I mean, it is titled: ""Snake Mountain Blues Colter Wall (Townes Van Zandt) Cover by Efe Sayin"".
