An antique vintage Columbia Grafonola portable wind-up gramophone in black. Admittedly not very portable by today's standards, it is hard to believe that this was the kind of thing that was taken on family picnics back in the 1930s. As can be seen in the video, it survives in great shape with black leatherette case which - when opened - raises the tone arm and rotates the sound vents to the front. It plays at 78rpm and is shown playing an Eclipse 8" shellac record - a great little number called 'Plinketty Plonk' by Leslie Sarony, a well-known entertainer, singer, song-writer and actor of the 1920s/30s. 42cm x 31cm x 14cm (with case closed).
