Bahama's eh? My dream has always been to sail on blue water. I bet it was awesome. I really hope to do that someday. Thanks so much for watching.

Nice little boats. I got into a "race" with a Com-Pac 16 one day. He had a head start (excuse #1). I'm not sure if he knew we were racing but I never did catch him. I was pulling a small dinghy (excuse #2). That's how I've made peace with my defeat . When I saw that Dinty-Moore, I thought I was watching Captain Q for a minute there.

Hey Jason, I previously sailed a J/24, so I was kind of expected a pig when I bought it. I've been surprised with the performance I've gotten out of her so far. I'm not so fast myself these days, so the boat and me are a good fit. I appreciate you swinging by.

I’ve been in love with Compacs since I saw a 16’ the first time. Just love their lines. I’d love to fix one up some day.

I agree. I really wish I would have kept mine. Having an old boat on a trailer makes for a fun garage project. Thanks Josh.

Great job on your videos. I also have a 23 ft shoal draft boat. It's a Canadian made Bayfield 23' from the early 70s. I enjoyed your videos. Take care.

I had to look deeper into the Bayfield 23. A Ted Gozzard design. The clipper bow is very classic and distinctive looking. Beautiful well made boats. I bet you love it, I would. Thanks.

Thanks for another enjoyable video on the Compac! I did not know ballast was added with the addition of the bowsprit. I hope to improve the windward performance of my 23, but other than that, love the feel of the 23 in the water! Like your music selections also!

Hey Randy, I had fun looking into the background of these boats. Like you, I'll be doing some improvements to get her tighter to the wind. In my next video I hope to show everything I've done to make it easier to singlehand. Thanks, I'm glad you liked the vid.

Thank you for making this. I love my 16/3 I was unaware that the Legacy is essentially the Mark IV! I live in Colorado now with it but sure do miss the Great Lakes

I love my CP23 but I miss my 16. It's so easy to splash it anywhere you want. I also love to have a boat at my house to work on. Back when I had mine, I took apart a trolling motor and basically made it into a pod drive. It worked perfectly. I hope you found a good place to sail in the Centennial State. Thanks Charlie.

Cool video thanks! Also, @3:02 that's actually the 21' Eclipse. The Legacy has one portlight on each side the Eclipse two. I have an Eclipse and love it!

I bought a new 23 in the 80s through the bankruptcy court after a dealer went under. So I got a new box in a box. I couldn't figure out why the sink drained into the bilge so I called Compac. They told me that they did not have the heart to drill a hole through the hull of someone else's boat as there were no below the waterline through hull fittings. But they said that if it bothered me and I wanted to drill a hole through the hull of my own boat to have at it. So I didn't drill the hole. That's just one beauty of these boats. Unless you are dumb enough to drill a hole in the hull to drain the sink, the cockpit drains are above the water line so you ain't gonna sink due to a failed through hull fitting.

That’s interesting. I like the way the Hutchins think. I love the worry free simplicity. I’ve had an inboard diesel on a thirty footer, full of thru hulls, I’m happier now with my 23. Great comment, thanks!

do you sleep on it?
@smallsailboatbigwater39592 ай бұрын
Yes, I have plenty of times. In the main cabin. The V-berth is difficult for me to get in and out of.

There’s no inboard diesel on the 16’ Legacy
@smallsailboatbigwater39598 ай бұрын
Yeah. I mistakenly called it the 16 instead of the 19. Thanks.

@@smallsailboatbigwater3959 I’m looking into a Compac again as years ago I had a Compac 16’ sloop rig (w tan bark sails). I asked Hutchins that very question as putting a very small reliable diesel into a very small boat is a pretty cool idea. As I’m much older now it would be great to have a small inboard to just turn a switch instead of an outboard with a pull start hanging off the stern ! Also, I’ve decided to look at the cat; simpler rigging, one sail, wider beam. Thanks for your video, Charlie
