The communication is bi-directional. The data is read and written at the same time. The communication shown in the video was using AMS, (You could call it ADS). it is not OPC UA/DA. If you'd like to use OPC UA/DA, you have to use the TFxxx software for OPC and OPC license from Beckhoff.

@@electricalautomation thanks your reply. And, I have a concern. OPC get data from other protocol easily but vice versa it 's different. As you know, ADS comm PLC need AmsNetId, register/Address of ADS, and Port for connection. How do we have those infomation in Kepware? Last time, I got data of Kepware through Modbus, OPC UA but ADS not yet. Looking forward to your support !

My video shows all the configuration procedures for the AMS way and explains how to find all the 'addresses' in the video. Regarding the OPC UA, the data default is read and write, double directions, unless your controller side is set some permissions to forbid the variable write.

@@electricalautomation I think you misunderstood my question. Sorry, maybe my question is not clear.😶 In your video, Kepware makes a connection to the beckhoff PLC via file.pty. That is normal because It is just a connection part/device of the Kepware connection. I want to access all devices in the connectivity of Kepware via ADS TwinCAT. This is my concern. ADS TwinCAT is free, so I try to use it although I also use OPC UA which works well. 😅

Need your support please. I have hmi program of pro face connected to beckcoff plc.. We cant access to the plc due to password protected. Is is possible to connect the plc with kepserver by the hmi address?

I have a problem, when i change variable value from 0 to 1 in twincat and then the value of variable in OPC Quick Client kepserver is always 0. Please help me, i must to finnished this error tonight

A1: I think so, ADS comes from the Beckhoff, and it is the common protocol for Beckhoff controller. A2: Login and connect Kepserver are two different topics. Login PLC operation is used to download the program and variable. To connect Kepserver, as long as your Beckhoff PLC is running, it can connect.
