Anyone else recently get front mission 1st remake? What you think? I find the RNG in the game very very dangerous makes xcom look easy.

I've owned this on the DS for years and my gaming backlog has kept me from diving in but I was a big fan of front mission 3 for the PSX. I plan on getting this, but I need to digest Tactics Ogre Reborn first. And, honestly, while I enjoy Reborn after playing it I am itching to play the PSP one again, maybe with that One Vision Mod people rave about. I'll wait on this for a physical release as well... but it's on my radar for sure

@@patron7906 Yeah i agree the one vision mod seems like something i want to check out to so many games so little time and now we got all these SRPG remakes and stuff just making the back log even bigger lol I still love tactics ogre reborn grinding away on that as well myself

This is the first tutorial I've found that actually explains what the icons mean! I was going nuts trying to figure out what should be something pretty basic but even the official videos don't explain that before jumping into deeper stuff

yeah it is silly that its not covered offically either but thats what i try to do with games i provide guides and help for go over stuff no one does but sometimes that is easier said than done. glad i was able to help you out

Same. I love Super Robot Wars so I thought I'd instantly love FM1st. When I finish TO I'm sure I'll grow to love FM1st

Hey fox. Just bought a switch lite and this over the weekend. decided to buy a switch lite because i'm a fan of this series and i plan to travel alot by late june/early july. I've progressed a little in the game. here's my comments so far: 1. agreed. single-shot weapons suck. that's why i dont like rifles. with melee you're kind of forced into it so i try to minimize my melee users. i do know though each pilot has a specialty so i kind of wanted to lean into that (like royd is all purpose, keith is short, etc) 2. grenade launchers are good for when you're out/low of repair items or want to keep attacking but you have parts at low hp. it avoid counters just like missiles but without the ammo limitations. the trade-off of course is low accuracy/high weight. i like it as a secondary weapon for my short range folks with a machine gun as a primary weapon. 3. missiles imo are the best weapon in the game with decent accuracy and avoids counters. 4. so far for my wanzer setup, i keep it simple: body: prioritize def arms: prioritize hit legs; prioritize move 5. yeah it would've been nice if you made more vids on this game to generate discussion. but i think you already moved on from this game. personally, i've paused the TOR grind for now and i'm working on this game. i'm glad that it has 2 storylines to play through.

Thats awesome you got a switch. Its got so many great game i hope you enjoy it. Yeah the first front missions is a mess i dropped the game. Its just so unbalanced against the player and RNG is your only hope. Sadly i was not a fan of the game. But i do love the series maybe the 2nd and 3rd will be better since those have newer systems compared to the original snes game the first one is

I'm excited for front mission 2. once i'm done with that i'll check out games i've always been interested in like triangle strategy and fire emblem. so far the RNG hasnt really bothered me as much but i'm playing the easy mission (OCU) 1st. maybe they patched it? I also got lucky with unlocking skills which solves the RNG problem. skills like guide and duel just allow you to keep targeting the body over and over again (imo guide is deadly on a missiler. been getting alot of one-shots). if you ever decide to pick it up again let me know and i can help you with optimization (pilot optimization, setups, skill unlocks). Front mission 3 was a masterpiece. it's one of the few games i've played at different decades in my life and still enjoyed the experience. no idea about front mission 2 but i hope it's great.

Dam i completely forgot there was a remake coming. But i have to admit the realistic environment takes away a bit of the charm the original sprites gave.

Was weird they just made a 15% off sale in US if you bought other forever games after charging full price. I know FM lacks a lot of quality of life (skipping stuff) and I have a feeling the others are gonna recycle like ff pixel remasters, and no fm3 news on their site. You do have the soundtrack and it is cheaper than tactics ogre which has suicidal AI lol but I'm glad I unlocked the ogre battle theme.

@@MrVariant thats a good deal 15% is better than nothing and yes the ai is so different in this game i would almost argue this game is harder than tactics ogre starting off cuz your always out numbered and the RNG can cost you the game easily

I'm very happy that a remake of this game came out, but I did find it to be a little disappointing overall. The game's visuals, while not really that impressive, are a big leap forward from previous incarnations of this title, but I am left scratching my head as to why this game is called a remake. The gameplay is EXACTLY the same as before, there aren't even any tweaks to balance (like Gentz only having 2 skill slots, one of which is already taken by Stun). A true remake would include systems that later titles had such as AP or more skills. My biggest issue is the fact that the original game has not aged very well and can be very difficult for a new player to get into, and this remake does pretty much nothing to alleviate that.

yeah the game is pretty hard too and the visuals seem to be the major focus of the the remake i agree the gameplay is exactly the same. At the start i was having issues with almost losing units due to the random RNG messing me up

Yeah the game has alot more to it than i remember and its either harder or the RNG gods hate me

In your opinion, what is the best way to level up your team? Just use the arena?

yeah that seems to be the most efficient way especially for low levels

@@Blaklyon0 yeah you should be able to the game is the same just remade to look more modern. I havent got it myself but idk why they would remove it

@@faizedfoxgaming7426 That weapon alone can break the game... it gives the pilot 700 experience on a miss... if you hit the target, you will decimate them and net more exp.

Somehow this game is way too hard for me. Im not a strategy gamer but i plays xcom, stronghold, phantom brigade, and ogre tactics perfectly fine

it is a very hard game i agree. Its got lots of random to it that makes it difficult

@@faizedfoxgaming7426 i think i can accept randomness. I mean i play both xcom. But how just everytime you attack, they can attack you too. And then enemy got more wanzer than you. And then i dont think outside of just fully upgrade and maxing your wanzer, aspect like cover guard,elevation, and tile type isnt playing a big part. But i dunno maybe its just me. Cant even get past the first few missions
