Meat Grinder here. Another excellent and entertaining video, Josey. I do want to compliment you on your superb use of those AT guns on the attack. That isn't an easy thing to do well. Bravo! Regarding the winery, as you correctly guessed, my "attack" on the winery was halfhearted at best. I just didn't have the resources for a proper attack. All I was really hoping for, especially towards the end of the game, was to just have a man or two in the winery to contest the VL. Didn't happen. I agree with your assessment that the smokescreen was inadequate for your attack on the road junction. It's always a high risk move to charge a location with men loaded in trucks when there are enemy tanks about. I barely held on to the road junction, as I'm sure you now know. This game was, for all intents and purposes, a draw, even though the AI awarded me a minor victory. Well played. I look forward to our next game, and your next video.

Thanks Doug, there is an interesting psychological effect on playing you. Its probably similar to how an inexperienced commander may have felt going up against Rommel or Patton. The reputation that comes with the opponent can effect your mood, mindset and decision process. Your reputation is based on a combination of your 2016 win on the ladder championship, the number of wins vs losses you have accumulated and the way people talk to you and about you on the forums and I went into this battle in the hope that I could win rather than the belief I would win based on the strength of that. I always felt as if you were in control of the battlefield and this was in part based on your reputation. This left me in the mindset where I was trying to gain an advantage without a lot of confidence in the plans I was making (hence the early ceasefire request that you didn't know about at the time!).

Funny you should mention that. A recent opponent commented (after our game), that I try to project strength while he tries to project weakness. Both have their uses. If your opponent believes your forces/position/whatever is stronger than his, or that you are a more skilled player than you really are, he might hesitate, or might be more tentative in his play than he normally would. If you act weaker than you really are, you can sometimes cause your opponent to be overly aggressive. It's all just mind games (psy ops). I think I started cultivating the "strength myth" when I first joined FGM, by picking out a "mean sounding" forum name and avatar, lol. It doesn't work on some opponents, especially once they have played you a time or two. :-)

The eagerly awaited resolution of this riveting match! I was glad to see a reversal of fortune after 3 Plt's ill-fated attack, those AT guns really paid off.

Thanks, I was really happy with the AT guns. They scored 3 panzer kills for 1 loss. I have a soft spot for them but think they should be harder to spot than they currently are.

Yeah, that's one area where Combat Mission is sorely lacking, it's a shame the player can't dig gun pits (a scenario designer can create a passable gun pit) nor use field camouflage.

Brutal fight, and kudos for keeping up the attack up the middle despite not having much supporting armour left. Nice to see the anti-tank guns get a small measure of revenge by the end of the round.

Lemons I was fist pumping every time those AT guns scored a hit. I got 3 kills with them which is a vast improvement on my battle with WillS.

Countless times going back to saves to play this map. Tough map but a lot of fun had each time. FI is a special game with its rugged terrain. All the CM titles are special really. Beautifully done sir.

Thanks Brad, FI was the first game in the CM2 series I played. I completed the US campaign on single player and each battle was having to take yet another hill. I think Battlefront captured the Sicily campaign really well.

Excellent video , recently stumbled across your channel and i have to say your AAR's are simply a class above the rest. I would like to ask what MODs you are using as your game looks spectacular compared to my un-modded version of the game. I only have the CMBN title + all its addons so i dont know if thats the reason why ? ,but you have a different frond end panel for your troops as well , can you provide a list JW if you can find the time ?. Also im sure you get asked this alot but i have never played a CM match versus a real life opponent how do i go about it ? A game against you would be great as you could provide me with 5mins of fame !. I use Juju's UI for the font panel and all the aris mods for the vehicles, dust/smoke/flame effects.
